The Xbox 360 did not make an impact on Japan hardware charts compared to the popular Nintendo DS handheld, PSP, and PS2 console.

Media Create Co. on Thursday reported that the Xbox 360 sold 1,472 units from July 17 - July 23.

By comparison the Nintendo DS Lite sold 262,453 units, the PSP 35,938 units and the PS2 22,288 units in the same period.

In addition, Xbox 360 software failed to chart in the top 50 sales.

Microsoft has shipped 5M Xbox 360 units worldwide. Sales in the U.S. and Europe account for the majority of units sold on popular action titles like Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and steady sports offerings.
