Nintendo's Big Brain Academy tests DS owners

Nintendo on Tuesday announced that the brain teaser Big Brain Academy will test Nintendo DS owners with a series of wacky mental exercises.

The game is the second installment in the popular brain training series, which has sold more than 6M units in Japan. Nintendo released the first entry, Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day, on Apr. 17.

In Big Brain Academy, users can try 15 different tests to work out their brain, including counting the number of blocks in a stack, matching pairs of panels, and deducing which object on a set of scales weighs the most.

Up to eight DS owners can compete in multiplayer games with one game card. The game is sold under the new Touch Generations brand which represents game titles for casual audiences.

Nintendo has sold near 17M Nintendo DS handhelds to date.
