Nintendo senior marketing director for Europe Laurent Fischer on Tuesday reconfirmed that the Revolution will drop to retail worldwide in 2006.
Fischer, who takes the place of former marketing director Jim Merrick, told publication MCV that the new console is set for a worldwide rollout in 2006 and that new Europe brand manager Achim Schmauss would be responsible for this year's marketing activities.
Nintendo previously said that it would likely release the Revolution to the U.S., Japan, and Europe within several weeks of each other.
The launch strategy is similar to Microsoft's Xbox that dropped to the U.S., Europe, and Japan within a span of three weeks.
The company will debut the final Revolution console and games at the 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles this May.
Rival Sony's Playstation 3 is likely to see a staggered release to multiple territories. Analysts expect the console to drop in Japan in early summer, followed by a U.S. release in Nov.
