Nintendo takes sales charts for second week in Japan

Nintendo saw another record week of sales as company took 7 of the top 10 software sales from Dec. 19-25 according market data firm Media Create.

Nintendo's Animal Crossing: Wild World at #2 sold a record 416,132 copies to bring its total to 1.17 million, while Mario Kart DS at #3 sold 302,742 copies for 667,799 units to date.

Square Enix's new debut Kingdom Hearts II nabbed the #1 spot at 727,591 copies.

Nintendo DS titles, including Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon, Brain Training for Adults, and Bandai's Tamagotchi continue to see brisk sales and all land in the top 10.

The Nintendo DS is the fastest-selling handheld console to date in Japan at 5.44 million units sold in 13 months. The hardware has seen success among adults and female users on hit games like Nintendogs and Brain Training.

In the U.S the Nintendo DS holds a slight sales margin over PSP at 2.7 million units sold compared to Sony's 2.43 million units sold.
