Namco is ready to take back the streets in Dead to Rights: Reckoning for the PSP. In a conference call, the company let the press in on more details on the upcoming prequel to the action shooting franchise.
Dead to Rights: Reckoning is a brand new entry in the series. Reckoning takes place before the original Dead to Rights and has Jack Slate and dog Shadow in an investigation of a major crime lord.
The new game will have 16 disarms, including a new dive tackle disarm. There are five disarms per class of weapon and players can shoot while laying down. Jack can dual-wield sawn-off shotguns to pump hot heat into his enemies.
Shadow the dog can be called to take a bite out of crime by targeting an enemy and hitting the square button. He can even help out in boss fights.
When Jack runs out of bullets and puppy chow, he can rely on his fists. Players can bust out in fist of fury mode to beat up on enemies, but we were told that Jack would be best against thugs with weapons equipped.
To cater to the short play span of a portable game, Namco said the levels will be quick and users will be able to save after each level. As the game progresses players will see real-time cutscenes that relay the story. The final game will span 5-7 hours.
Reckoning will include a multiplayer deathmatch mode with levels inspired by the single player mission.
Dead to Rights: Reckoning drops to PSP at the end of June.
