For travelers who need a faster battery charge, mophie has a portable solution. The powerstation PD is a compact, quick charge battery pack that utilizes USB-C to fast charge a device up to 2.5 times faster compared to a standard charger.
The powerstation PD is a 6,700 mAh battery pack that includes a USB-C port to charge devices at 18W, or a 50 percent charge in 30 minutes for an iPhone XS using a USB-C to Lightning Cable compared to a standard 5W charger. The same port can be used to charge the battery pack at 15W. Also included is a handy USB-A port to charge a second device at 12W.
The battery pack is easy to stow at 2.5 x 4 inches and weighs only 3.2 ounces. It looks great with a black speaker-like texture at the top and bottom, and a matte grey finish between. Icons to distinguish the purpose between the USB-C port for quick charge and the USB-A port for a less speedy charge are helpful. The power button matches the matte grey finish, and the four-light power indicator shines in a white light that is bright and easy to read.
The powerstation PD includes only a short USB-C to USB-C cable, so iPhone owners with quick charge hardware will still have to invest in a USB-C to Lighting cable in order to utilize 18W charging, and a USB-C wall charger to charge the device itself. Newer Android phone owners, however, may have a USB-C quick charge cable and wall plug included with their device.
PUNCH JUMP recommends the mophie powerstation PD. The device is well built, saves time, and looks great while doing its job.
It sells at $59.99.
