Nintendo Co. Ltd.’s Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch held in the top 10 sales in the latest retail data from Japan.
Media Create Co. this month said Super Mario Odyssey sold 13,912 units to rank as the No. 9 best-selling software between Feb. 5 and Feb. 11.
More than 60 percent of Nintendo Switch owners have purchased Super Mario Odyssey.
The title is the fastest-selling Super Mario game ever in the U.S., beating sales of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
Super Mario Odyssey is an action platform title in which Mario leaves the Mushroom Kingdom to enter a new sandbox-style journey.
Locations include a metropolitan city, forest and a food-based world.
A new ally, Cappy, allows Mario to inhabit different characters in the game. In addition, a second player can control Cappy for local co-op functionality.
