Nintendo Co. Ltd.’s Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch ranked as the No. 5 software in latest retail data from Japan.
Between Jan. 22 and Jan. 28, Super Mario Odyssey ranked as the No. 5 software selling 16,664 units in the period.
It ranked at No. 7 the week prior.
Nintendo in Jan. said Super Mario Odyssey has sold 1.76 million units in Japan and 7.31 million units overseas to total 9.07 million units worldwide.
More than 60 percent of Nintendo Switch owners have purchased Super Mario Odyssey.
The title is the fastest-selling Super Mario game ever in the U.S., beating sales of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
Locations include a metropolitan city, forest and a food-based world.
A new ally, Cappy, allows Mario to inhabit different characters in the game. In addition, a second player can control Cappy for local co-op functionality.
