Media Create Co. this month said Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch ranked in the top three software sales in the latest retail data from Japan.
Between Jan. 8 and Jan. 14, Super Mario Odyssey ranked as the No. 3 software selling 28,193 units in the period.
Nintendo in Jan. said more than 60 percent of Nintendo Switch owners have purchased Super Mario Odyssey.
The title, which has sold 1.1 million units in the U.S. as of Nov. 2017, is the fastest-selling Super Mario game ever in the U.S., beating sales of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
Locations include a metropolitan city, forest and a food-based world.
A new ally, Cappy, allows Mario to inhabit different characters in the game. In addition, a second player can control Cappy for local co-op functionality.
