Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 2 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.

Media Create Co. this week reported the PS4 sold 91,683 units between Jan. 1 and Jan. 7 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.

The hardware sold 49,631 units the week prior.

Call of Duty: WWII ranked as the No. 12 software for the week selling 13,305 units at launch.

Sony this week said the Playstation 4 sold through more than 5.9 million units in the 2017 holiday season.

The hardware has sold 73.6 million units to date in global markets.

In addition, more than 55.9 million PS4 games were sold during the 2017 holiday season at retail and in digital format.

Sony this week began holding the Holiday Sale Week 5 for the Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and the PS Vita at the Playstation Network division.

The sale discounts select titles by up to 50 percent and up to 60 percent for Playstation Plus members through Jan. 16.

Discounted titles include the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition, Dragonball Xenoverse 2, and Gravity Rush 2.

Sales for the PS Vita ranked as the No. 4 video game hardware in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this week said the PS Vita sold 11,929 units between Jan. 1 and Jan. 7 rank as the No. 4 hardware for the week.

It sold 7,970 units the week prior.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One hardware ranked at No. 5 in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this week reported that the Xbox One sold 199 units, including nine Xbox One X units, between Jan. 1 and Jan. 7.

By comparison, the Xbox One sold 335 units, including 23 Xbox One X units the week prior.

Bandai Namco Games America Inc. this week said it will release Dark Souls Remastered for the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and the PC.

Developed by FromSoftware, Dark Souls Remastered will include the Artorias of the Abyss DLC, improved frame rate, and 4K resolution for the PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, and PC.

It will be sold May 25 at $39.99 for consoles. The PC MSRP is to be determined.

Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. this week released the Goku Black Trailer for Dragon Ball FighterZ for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One and the PC.

The trailer previews Goku Black offensive options from the final game.

In addition, it released the Hit Trailer which previews Hit offensive options from the final game.

Sales for Nintendo Co. Ltd.’s Nintendo Switch hardware ranked No. 1 in Japan in the latest sales data for the region.

Media Create Co. this week reported that the Nintendo Switch sold 146,006 units between Jan. 1 and Jan. 7 to rank as the No. 1 hardware for the week.

It sold 134,519 units the week prior.

Splatoon 2 ranked as the No. 1 software in the period selling 117,840 units for the week.

Nintendo this week said it will release the Balloon World mini-game to Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch.

Balloon World is a free update that will allow users to hide a balloon in a kingdom within a certain amount of time. Adversely, users have the same amount of time to find a balloon hidden by another player. The mini-game will include online rankings to compete against global users.

Nintendo this week said it will release Mario Tennis Aces for the Nintendo Switch this spring.

Mario Tennis Aces will include new skill and competitive gameplay. In addition, the title will include a brand new story mode for missions and boss battles.

The title will be sold this spring.

Nintendo this week said it will release Kirby Star Allies for the Nintendo Switch Mar. 16.

Kirby is a side-scrolling platform title in which Kirby can recruit enemies as allies to help fight against opponents.

New abilities include the Artist ability to create support attacks and the Spider ability to wrap enemies in webs.

The final game will include four-player local co-op functionality.

Nintendo this week said it will release Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch this spring.

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition will include all maps and missions in addition to 29 playable characters from the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions.

Finally, the title will include all DLC.

SNK Corp. this week said it will release SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy for the Playstation 4 and the Nintendo Switch.

SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy is a two-on-two tag team fighting game that includes iconic heroines from SNK history.

The title will include four-player online matches and the option to use in-game winnings to purchase accessories and voice clips to customize each character.

Characters previewed include Mai, Leona, Yuri, Kula, and Athena.

SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy, to be published by NIS America Inc, will be sold this summer.

NIS America Inc. this week said it will release Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana for Nintendo Co. Ltd.’s Nintendo Switch.

Developed by Nihon Falcom, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is an action RPG in which Adol must solve the mystery of a cursed island.

Nintendo this week said it will release Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for the Nintendo Switch.

The Nintendo Switch version will include the full Wii U game including a new beginner mode to use Funky Kong. Funky Kong can double jump, hover, perform infinite rolls and infinite underwater corkscrews.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will be sold May 4.

The Nintendo 3DS ranked as the No. 3 hardware in Japan in the latest sales data from the territory.

Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 45,737 units between Jan. 1 and Jan. 7 to rank as the No. 3 game hardware for the week.

The hardware sold 36,814 units the week prior.

Mario Party: The Top 100 ranked as the No. 5 software for the week selling 51,818 units.
