Sony Corp. this week said the Playstation 4 sold through more than 5.9 million units in the 2017 holiday season.

The hardware has sold 73.6 million units to date in global markets.

In addition, more than 55.9 million PS4 games were sold during the 2017 holiday season at retail and in digital format.

Sony in Q2 recorded a $1.26 billion profit. The Games and Network services division, which includes the Playstation business, held sales of $3.18 billion and net income of $482.1 million.

In the quarter, the PS4 sold 4.2 million units. It forecasts 19 million PS4 units sold by the end of the fiscal year.
