Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 2 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 67,257 units between Dec. 18 to Dec. 24 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.
The hardware sold 62,965 units the week prior.
Capcom Co. Ltd.’s Okami HD ranked as the No. 18 software for the week selling 16,536 units at launch.
Sony this week began holding the Holiday Sale Week 3 for the Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and the PS Vita at the Playstation Network division.
The sale discounts select titles by up to 50 percent and up to 60 percent for Playstation Plus members through Jan. 2 8AM PST.
Discounted titles include Destiny 2, Need for Speed Payback, Shadow of War, and Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy.
Sony this week previewed free Playstation 4, Playstation 3 and PS Vita titles for Playstation Plus members to the Playstation Network division for Jan. 2018.
PS Plus titles include Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (PS4), Batman: The Telltale Series (PS4), Sacred 3 (PS3), The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 (PS3), Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness (PS Vita) and Uncanny Valley (PS Vita).
In addition, between Jan. 2 and Mar. 6, PS Plus members can download Starblood Arena.
Media Create Co. this week said the Playstation 4 Pro sold 16,595 units between Dec. 18 and Dec. 24 at Japan retail.
By comparison, the hardware sold 17,804 units the week prior.
This year, the hardware has sold 397,039 units in year-to-date in Japan.
Sony this week Update 1.10 to Gran Turismo Sport for the Playstation 4.
Update 1.10 includes 12 new cars and the GT League Mode.
Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. this week released the Kingdom Building Trailer for Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom for the Playstation 4 and the PC.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox One sold 719 units between Dec. 18 and Dec. 24.
By comparison, the Xbox One sold 2,307 units the week prior.
The Xbox One X sold 32 units between Dec. 18 and Dec. 24 at Japan retail.
By comparison, the hardware sold 132 units the week prior.
Microsoft this month previewed Xbox Live Games with Gold for the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 in Jan. 2018.
In Jan. 2018., the Xbox One will offer The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III Jan. 1st to the 31st and ZOMBI from Jan. 16th to Feb. 15th.
The Xbox One and Xbox 360 will offer Tomb Raider Underworld from Jan. 1st to the 15th and Army of Two from Jan. 16th to the 31st.
Sales for Nintendo Co. Ltd.’s Nintendo Switch hardware ranked No. 1 in Japan in the latest sales data for the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Nintendo Switch sold 269,684 units between Dec. 18 and Dec. 24 to rank as the No. 1 hardware for the week.
It sold 221,210 units the week prior.
Super Mario Odyssey ranked as the No. 1 software in the period selling 209,630 units for the week.
The report claims the company had planned to released the larger capacity card in the second half of 2018, but had to postpone the release due to technical issues.
Current Nintendo Switch titles have a maximum capacity of 32GB.
Nintendo this week said The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Explorer’s Edition for the Nintendo Switch ranked as the top selling Nintendo Switch title in 2017.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has sold 4.7M units as of the second quarter ending Sept. 2017.
Hamster, Co. this week released The King of Fighters ’96 for the Nintendo Switch.
Developed by SNK Corp., The King of Fighters ’96 is a fighting game released to the Neo Geo in 1996. The title includes three vs. three team battles and a team edit function.
It is sold at $7.99.
