Nintendo Co. Ltd. this week said the Nintendo Switch is the fastest-selling Nintendo console to date.
In Mar., the console sold more than 906,000 units at U.S. retail.
In addition, the The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the fastest-selling Nintendo launch game and fastest-selling Zelda title in history.
The Nintendo Switch SKU sold more than 925,000 units, and the Wii U SKU sold more than 460,000 units at U.S. retail in Mar.
At home the Nintendo Switch rests in the Nintendo Switch Dock that connects to a standard television. When lifted from the dock the Nintendo Switch becomes a portable handheld device with a high-definition screen.
The hardware utilizes a custom Tegra processor from Nvidia Corp., which created custom software, including a revamped physics engine, new libraries, advanced game tools and libraries, and new gaming APIs.
Portable Joy-Con controllers can attach and detach from the Nintendo Switch. The Joy-Con Grip attaches both sides to the grip to resemble a home console controller. Each Joy-Con includes an analog stick and a four-button array.
Outside the home Joy-Con controllers can be used together for single-player games or can each be used separately for two-player local games. A Nintendo Switch Pro Controller with traditional format analog sticks and buttons will be sold separately.
