Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 1 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 43,489 units between Feb. 20 and Feb. 26 to rank No. 1 in overall hardware sales.
The sales figure 6,481 PS4 Pro units sold in the same period.
The hardware sold 27,203 units the week prior.
NieR: Automata ranked as the No. 1 software for the week selling 198,542 units for the week.
Sony this week released Horizon Zero Dawn for the Playstation 4.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is a third-person action title that includes a heroine against large robotic monsters.
The title includes multiple ranged bow and arrow weapons in addition to large guns that can be used from a damaged enemy.
Sony this week said the Playstation VR for the Playstation 4 has sold nearly one million units at global retail.
The New York Times reported this week that the Playstation VR has sold 915,000 units as of Feb. 19, 2017. It forecasts sales of one million by mid Apr. 2017.
The Playstation VR peripheral began sale in Oct. 2016 at $399.
Sony this week began offering a new Playstation Plus bundle that includes a three-month subscription bonus and three-month Showtime bonus.
Through Mar. 31, customers who purchase the 12-Month PS Plus subscription will receive an additional three months of service and three months of Showtime access via Playstation Vue.
The Showtime offer is available only to new Showtime subscribers via Playstation Vue.
Sony this week released free Playstation 4, Playstation 3 and PS Vita titles for Playstation Plus members to the Playstation Network division for Mar. 2017.
PS Plus titles include Disc Jam (PS4), Tearaway Unfolded (PS4), Under Night: In-Birth (PS3), Earth Defense Force 2025 (PS3), Lumo (PS Vita), and Severed (PS Vita).

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox One sold 469 units between Feb. 20 to Feb. 26 to rank No. 6 in overall sales.
It sold 76 units the week prior.
Microsoft this week said it will offer the Xbox Game Pass, a new subscription service to download Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles at $9.99 per month.
The service, to launch this spring, will allow subscribers to download full Xbox One and Xbox 360 game titles and purchase titles at an exclusive discount.
More than 100 Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles will be available at launch.
Warner Bros Entertainment Inc. this week said it will release Middle-earth: Shadow of War Aug. 22.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War is the sequel to Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.
The open-world RPG is said to include robust customization, and dynamic environments and characters shaped by player actions and decisions.
Microsoft this week released the Fallout Battle Maps for Minecraft.
The Fallout Battle Maps includes three new battle maps inspired by the Fallout series.
Maps include Liberteria, Capitol, and Atomics Galleria.
It sells at $2.99.
Sales for Nintendo Co. Ltd.’s Wii U hardware ranked fourth in Japan in the latest sales data for the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 464 units between Feb. 13 and Feb. 19 to rank as the No. 6 hardware for the week.
It sold 491 units the week prior.
Nintendo Co. Ltd. this week released the Nintendo Switch to U.S. retail.
Launch titles include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and ARMS.
It sells at $299.99.
Nintendo this week released The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Nintendo Switch and the Wii U.
The Legend of Zelda is an open world RPG that includes trademark franchise features including action-based combat, Sailcloth gliding, and horseback travel and combat with Epona.
The final game includes the option to pinpoint locations in the open world via the Wii U GamePad and traverse to the area by several means.
Konami Corp. this week released Super Bomberman R for the Nintendo Switch.
Super Bomberman R includes a full co-op story mode, epic boss battles, and a classic 8-player battle mode.
It is sold in retail and digital format at $49.99.
Nintendo this week released 1-2 Switch for the Nintendo Switch.
1-2 Switch is a party title in which users utilize the Joy-Con controllers for game activities that don’t require direct view of the Nintendoo Switch screen.
Activities include gun-slinging, cow milking, sword fighting, and dance move copying.
Nintendo this week released Snipperclips for the Nintendo Switch.
Snipperclips is a cooperative puzzle game that includes three game modes for two to four players.
It is sold at the Nintendo eShop at $19.99.
In addition, a demo is available to download at no cost.
Capcom Co. Ltd this week said it will release Ultra Street Fighter II The Final Challengers for the Nintendo Switch May 26.
Ultra Street Fighter II will include brand new single-player and multiplayer modes.
The final game will include two new fighters – Evil Ryu and Violent Ken, classic or modern graphics, and option to for two players to battle against a CPU opponent.
It will be sold at $39.99.
The Nintendo 3DS ranked as the No. 2 hardware in Japan in the latest sales data from the territory.
Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 21,541 units Feb. 20 and Feb. 26 to rank as the No. 2 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 22,294 units the week prior.
Pokémon Sun and Moon ranked as the No. 6 software in Japan 13,441 units for the week.
