Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 2 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 92,717 units between Dec. 5 and Dec. 11 to rank No. 2 in overall hardware sales.
The sales figure includes 7,499 PS4 Pro units sold in the same period.
It sold 118,350 units the week prior.
The Last Guardian ranked as the No. 4 software for the week 82,260 units at launch.
Sony this week price cut the Playstation 4 Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Bundle to $249.99 in a holiday promotion event.
Between Dec. 11 and Dec. 24, the PS4 Slim 500GB Uncharted 4 Bundle will sell at $249.99, $50 off the $299.99 MSRP.
The bundle includes the PS4 500GB SKU, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and Dualshock 4 Wireless Controller at $299.99.
Sony this week said Square Enix Holdings Co. Ltd.’s Final Fantasy XV for the Playstation 4 ranked in the top three downloads in the Playstation Network division in Nov.
The title ranked as the No. 3 PS4 PSN digital download for the month.
Sony this week said it will release the Platinum Wireless Headset for the Playstation 4 Jan. 12.
The headset will include 7.1 virtual surround sound, 3D audio technology and hidden noise-canceling microphones.
Titles to support 3D audio include Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, MLB The Show 17, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and Days Gone.
It will be sold at $159.99.
Sega Corp. this week said it will release Valkyria Revolution for the Playstation 4, PS Vita, and Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One in 2017.
Valkyria Revolution is a strategy title that will include real-time combat and tactical options.
The title will include new characters, a new world, and new gameplay mechanics, including an action-based battle system with melee combos and ranged attacks.
The PS4 and Xbox One SKU will include a retail release. The PS Vita SKU will be sold digitally.
Square Enix Holdings Co. Ltd. this month said it will release Dragon Quest Heroes II for the Playstation 4.
Dragon Quest Heroes II is an action-RPG developed by Omega Force.
The title includes an army of enemies and giant monsters designed by artist Akira Toriyama in strategic battles.
The final game will include four-player co-op multiplayer and unique moves and abilities.
It will be sold Apr. 25, 2017.
SNK Corp. this week said it will release the Athena KOF ’98 ver. DLC costume to The King of Fighters XIV for the Playstation 4.
The costume is an updated version of the Athena costume from The King of Fighters ’98.

Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 22,314 units between Dec. 5 and Dec. 11 to rank as the No. 3 hardware for the week.
It sold 20,141 units the week prior.
Minecraft: PS Vita Edition ranked as the No. 9 12,505 units for the week.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One hardware ranked at No. 6 in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox One sold 1,245 units between Dec. 5 to Dec. 11 to rank No. 6 in overall sales.
It sold 256 units the week prior.
Microsoft this week said the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs will support Dolby Atmos in 2017.
The Xbox One will be the first console to support Dolby Atmos, which will include games and Blu-ray disc audio with a Dolby Atmos enabled speaker system or soundbar.
In addition, Blu-ray Bitstream pass-through will include Dolby Atmos support for the Xbox One and Xbox One S.
Microsoft this week said 2K Games’ Bioshock series for the Xbox 360 now supports the Xbox One Backward Compatibility function.
The Xbox One is backwards compatible to 300 Xbox 360 titles.
Sales for Nintendo Co. Ltd.’s Wii U hardware ranked fourth in Japan in the latest sales data for the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 4,656 units between Dec. 5 and Dec. 11.
It sold 4,718 units the week prior.
Minecraft: Wii U Edition ranked as the No. 12 software for the week 10,263 units.
Nintendo this week said it will hold the Nintendo Switch Presentation Jan. 12.
The Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 will be streamed live at 8PM PST and include the launch date, price, and games currently in development.
In addition, the company will hold public events in the U.S. and Europe to preview Nintendo Switch prior to release.
The Nintendo Switch Preview Tour will be held in six major cities with the first two days of each tour invite-only, and the final day open to the public.
Tour dates include New York City – Jan. 13 to 15, Toronto – Jan. 27 to 29, Washington D.C. – Feb. 10 to 12, Chicago – Feb. 17 to 19, San Francisco Feb. 24 to 26, and Los Angeles Mar. 3 to 5.
In addition, the Nintendo Switch will be previewed at PAX South Jan. 27 to 29, PAX East Mar. 10 to 12, SXSW Mar. 16 to 18.
The Nintendo 3DS ranked as the No. 1 hardware in Japan in the latest sales data from the territory.
Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 108,975 units Dec. 5 and Dec. 11 to rank as the No. 2 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 78,929 units the week prior.
Super Mario Maker ranked as the No. 3 software in Japan selling 117,908 units for the week.
Capcom Co. Ltd. will release the Midnight Demo for Resident Evil 7 for the PC Dec. 19.
The Midnight Demo includes a full preview of the title prior to release.
Nintendo Co. Ltd. this week released Super Mario Run for Apple Inc.’s iOS.
Super Mario Run is an action platform title in which Mario auto runs and users tap the screen to jump.
The final game includes a battle mode.
It sells at $9.99.
