Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 2 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 20,567 units between July 25 to July 31 to rank No. 2 in overall hardware sales.

It sold 20,021 units the week prior.

Toukiden 2 ranked as the No. 5 software for the week selling 46,334 units for the week.

Sony this week released free Playstation 4, Playstation 3 and PS Vita titles for Playstation Plus members to the Playstation Network division for Aug. 2016.

PS Plus titles include Tricky Towers (PS4), Rebel Galaxy (PS4), Yakuza 5 (PS3), Retro/Grade (PS3), Patapon 3 (PS Vita), and Ultratron (PS4, PS3, PS Vita).

Sony this week said 15 role-playing titles are now available for the Playstation Now service.

Titles include Eternal Sonata, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel, Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten, The Awakened Fate Ultimatum, The Guided Fate Paradox and Dragon Fin Soup.

SNK Playmore Corp. this week released the Team Ikari Trailer for The King of Fighters XIV for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4.

The trailer previews Team Ikari, including Ralf, Leona, and Clark.

Ubisoft Inc. this week released Expansion I: Underground for Tom Clancy’s The Division for the Playstation 4.

Expansion I: Underground includes randomly generated urban dungeons with four-player co-op functionality.

In addition, it includes an all-new Incursion called Dragon’s Nest.

Sony this week released Ape Escape for the Playstation 2 to the Playstation 4 Playstation Network division.

Ape Escape 2 includes 1080p up-rendering, Trophies, Share Play, Remote Play, Activity Feeds, and Second Screen support.

It is sold at $9.99.

Capcom Co. Ltd. this week began pre-order sales for Resident Evil 4 for the Playstation 4 at the Playstation Network division.

Resident Evil 4 will include all bonus content, Mercenaries Mode and the New Game Plus option.

It will be sold Aug. 30 at $19.99.

Sales for the PS Vita ranked as the No. 3 video game hardware in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 11,016 units between July 25 to July 31 to rank as the No. 3 hardware for the week.

It sold 11,363 units the week prior.

Minecraft: PS Vita Edition ranked as the No. 12 software selling 5,783 units for the week.

Toukiden 2 ranked at No. 4 selling 59,032 units for the week.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One hardware ranked at No. 6 in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox One sold 68 units between July 25 to July 31 to rank No. 6 in overall sales.

It sold 55 units the week prior.

The Xbox One S 2TB SKU sells at $399.99.

The Xbox One S 500GB Halo Collection Bundle will include Halo 5: Guardians and Halo: The Master Chief Collection at $299.99.

The Xbox One S 1TB Madden NFL 17 Bundle will be sold at $349.99.

Both will be sold Aug. 23.

Microsoft this week detailed 4K and HDR functionality for the Xbox One S console.<>

To enable 4K resolution, users are required to have a television labeled 4K, 4K Ultra HD, UHD, UHD 4K, SUHD TV, Ultra HD, Ultra UDTV, 2160p.

HDR labels include HDR10, HDR Premium, High Dynamic Range, HDR, UHD Color, Ultra HD Premium, or Ultra HD deep color.

A 4K HDTV set must support the HDR10 standard to display HDR content from the Xbox One S.

HDR playback should play automatically. If not, users can check Advanced video settings to checkmark Allow 4K and Allow HDR.

Finally, 4K and HDR functionality requires a High-Speed HDMI cable. All Xbox One consoles ship with the required cable.

Microsoft this week released the Xbox One S Wireless Controller to U.S. retail.

Xbox One S Wireless Controller includes a textured grip, Bluetooth technology, doubled wireless range and enhanced comfort.

The product is compatible with the Xbox One, Xbox One S and Windows 10.

It sells at $59.99.

Microsoft this week released Xbox Live Games with Gold for the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 in Aug. 2016.

In Aug., the Xbox One will offer Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate from Aug. 1st to the 31st and WWE 2K16 from Aug. 16th to Aug. 15th.

The Xbox One and Xbox 360 will offer Spelunky Aug. 1st to the 15th and Beyond Good & Evil HD Aug. 16th to the 31st.

Capcom Co. Ltd. this week began pre-order sales for Resident Evil 4 for the Xbox One at the Xbox Live division.

Sales for Nintendo Co. Ltd.’s Wii U hardware ranked fourth in Japan in the latest sales data for the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 5,228 units between July 25 to July 31 to rank at No. 4 in overall sales.

It sold 5,864 units the week prior.

Minecraft: Wii U Edition ranked as the No. 9 software for the week selling 7,333 units.

Nintendo this week released Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia for the Nintendo DS to the Wii U Virtual Console division.

In the action adventure title, the Pokémon Ranger must help people, Pokémon, and nature in the Almia Region.

It sells at $9.99.

The Nintendo 3DS ranked as the No. 1 hardware in Japan in the latest sales data from the territory.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 29,043 units between July 25 to July 31 to rank as the No. 2 game hardware for the week.

The hardware sold 26,732 units the week prior.

Yo-Kai Watch 3 Sushi / Tempura ranked as the No. 1 software selling 100,105 units for the week.

Niantic, Inc. this week released a new update for Pokémon GO to Apple Inc.’s App Store and Alphabet Inc.’s Google Play Store.

Version 0.31.0 for Android and 1.1.0 for iOS includes recustomizable Avatars, Adjusted battle move damage values for some Pokémon, refined certain Gym animations, improved memory issues, removed footprints of nearby Pokémon.
