Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 2 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 20,394 units between July 11 to July 17 to rank No. 2 in overall hardware sales.

It sold 22,717 units the week prior.

Grand Theft Auto V ranked as the No. 19 software for the week selling 3,188 units for the week.

The Playstation Network this week began holding the Superhero Sale for the Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and PS Vita.

Discounted titles include Batman: Arkham Origins, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, and Gravity Rush.

The sale is valid through July 26.

Square Enix Co Ltd. this week said it will release Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration for the Playstation 4 Oct. 11.

Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration will include all DLC, all-new Blood Ties chapter, Endurance Mode co-op expansion, Extreme Survivor difficulty, Playstation VR functionality, and special card pack to play as five different Lara character models.

Sony this week said it will release Gravity Rush 2 for the Playstation 4 Dec 2.

Gravity Rush 2 is a third-person action title that will include three gravity styles – Normal, Lunar, and Jupiter.

Gravity styles can be switched dynamically to offer new attacks.

The final game will include a Tag Battle System to partner with an AI ally.

Square Enix Holdings Co. Ltd. this week said it will release Dragon Quest Builders to the Playstation 4 and PS Vita Oct. 11.

The title is a sandbox action RPG in which users can gather resources and rebuild the world.

The final game will include a story and narrative, in addition to side quests, NPCs, and monsters to battle.

SNK Playmore Corp. this month said it will release Garou: Mark of the Wolves for the Playstation 4 and PS Vita to the Playstation Network division.

The fighting title, released to the Neo Geo in 1999, will include Cross Buy, Cross Play and online multiplayer functionality.

The final game will include a Gallery Mode, Sound Test features, proprietary netcode.

Sony this week previewed the Playstation PLAY 2016 campaign.

The Playstation PLAY 2016 campaign features brand new games and special offers. Four digital titles to launch over the next four weeks include Headlander at $19.99 (July 26), ABZU at $19.99 (Aug. 2), Brut@l at $11.99 (Aug. 9), and Bound at $15.99 (Aug. 16).

Users who purchase more than two PLAY 2016 titles will receive a 20 percent in-cart discount for eligible items in the Playstation Store.

PLAY 2016 titles are available for pre-order now. Playstation Plus members who pre-order PLAY 2016 titles will receive a 20 percent discount.

In addition, it will include Tutorial Mode, VS Mode, Training Mode, and a bonus Dynamic Theme.

Sales for the PS Vita ranked as the No. 3 video game hardware in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 10,991 units between July 11 to July 17 to rank as the No. 3 hardware for the week.

It sold 11,042 units the week prior.

Minecraft: PS Vita Edition ranked as the No. 9 software selling 6,121 units for the week.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One hardware ranked at No. 6 in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox One sold 63 units between July 11 to July 17 to rank No. 6 in overall sales.

It sold 72 units the week prior.

Microsoft this week said it will release the Xbox One S 2TB SKU to U.S. retail Aug. 2.

The Xbox One S is a console 40 percent smaller than the current Xbox One and includes a 2TB hard drive, 4K Ultra HD video, High Dynamic Range, a streamlined controller and vertical stand.

It will be sold at $399.99.

Microsoft this week said it will release Dead Rising 4 for the Xbox One and the PC Dec. 6.

Dead Rising 4 will include Frank West, the photographer from the first installment of the series, and includes new weapons and vehicles.

The final game includes new zombie classes and EXO Suits.

Activision Blizzard Inc. this week released the Iron Gjallarwing Sparrow Pre-order Trailer for Destiny: Rise of Iron.

The trailer previews the pre-order bonus vehicle.

Destiny: Rise of Iron, to be sold Sept. 20, is the next expansion in the franchise and includes a brand new story campaign, new location, new weapons, new armor, and new gear.

Telltale Games and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Inc. this month said it will release Batman: The Telltale Series Sept. 13 at U.S. retail.

The first episode digital download will be sold in Aug.

The episodic game series is an all-new Batman story that involves the complex life of public billionaire Bruce Wayne and the crime fighter behind the mask.

Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware ranked fourth in Japan in the latest sales data for the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 7,601 units between July 11 to July 17 to rank at No. 4 in overall sales.

It sold 15,470 units the week prior.

Minecraft: Wii U Edition ranked as the No. 5 software for the week selling 9,762 units.

The Nintendo 3DS ranked as the No. 2 hardware in Japan in the latest sales data from the territory.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 27,806 units between July 11 to July 17 to rank as the No. 2 game hardware for the week.

The hardware sold 20,546 units the week prior.

Yo-Kai Watch 3 Sushi / Tempura ranked as the No. 1 software selling 632,135 units for the week.
