Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 1 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 35,496 units between Apr. 18 to Apr. 24 to rank No. 1 in overall hardware sales.
It sold 20,257 units the week prior.
One Piece: Burning Blood ranked as the No. 1 software for the week selling 35,496 units.
Sony in Apr. said sales of the Playstation 4 have reached 40 million units in global markets.
In Q4 2015 the Game and Network Services division, which includes the Playstation business, held an operating income of $785 million, an increase from $448 million the year prior.
The PS4 shipped 17.7 million units in the fiscal year ending Mar. 31, 2016, an increase of 14.8 million the year prior.
Sony this week previewed free Playstation 4, Playstation 3 and PS Vita titles for Playstation Plus members to the Playstation Network division for May 2016.
PS Plus titles include Top Table Racing: World Tour (PS4), Switch Galaxy Ultra (PS4, PS Vita), Tropico 5 (PS4), Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 (PS3), LocoRoco Cocoreccho! (PS3), God of War: Ghost of Sparta (PS Vita), Reality Fighters (PS Vita).
SNK Playmore Corp. this week said it will release The King of Fighters XIV for the Playstation 4.
The King of Fighters XIV will include three vs. three team matches and 50 new and veteran characters.
The final game will include online versus functionality.
The pre-order / Day One Edition will include a SteelBook with Kyo Kusanagi.
In addition, the classic Kyo DLC costume will be available at no cost at the Playstation Network launch week.
Sony this week said copies of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End for the Playstation 4 were stolen in transit.
The company said a few copies have been found in the UK and warns users for potential story spoilers online.
It is working with police to resolve the matter.
Night School Studio this week said it will release Oxenfree for the Playstation 4 May 31.
In the title, Alex and new stepbrother Jonas join friends for an overnight party to an abandoned military island. Soon they discover supernatural forces that blur their reality.
The PS4 version will include radio functionality via the DualShock 4 controller speaker and light bar. In addition, it will include new scenes, storylines, and endings.
Tecmo Koei Corp. this week released the Nioh Alpha Demo for the Playstation 4.
Users who complete the Alpha Demo will can download The Mark of the Conqueror DLC in the full game.
It is available between Apr. 26 and May 5.
Nioh, to be sold in 2016, is a samurai combat action title set in civil war Japan.
NIS America Inc. this week released Stranger of Sword City for the PS Vita.
Stranger of Sword City is a traditional dungeon crawler title with six-character party battles and multi-plane enemy placement.

Microsoft this week previewed Xbox Live Games with Gold for the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 in May 2016.
In May, the Xbox One will offer Defense Grid 2 from May 1st to the 31st and Costume Quest 2 from May 16th to June 15th.
The Xbox 360 will offer GRID 2 May 1st to the 15th and Peggle May 16th to the 31st.

Microsoft this week said it will release the Gears of War 4 Ultimate Edition for the Xbox One.
The Ultimate Edition includes Gears of War 4, the Gears of War Season Pass, Limited Edition SteelBook, and early access to the game Oct. 7.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware ranked fourth in Japan in the latest sales data for the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 5,968 units between Apr. 18 and Apr. 24 to rank at No. 4 in overall sales.
It sold 6,091 units the week prior.
Star Fox Zero ranked as the No. 5 software for the week 17,114 units for the week.
Nintendo this week it will sell the new NX console in Mar. 2017.
The console will not be previewed at the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo and will be revealed in late 2016.
Nintendo this week said The Legend of Zelda for the NX and Wii U in 2017.

The hardware sold 19,657 units the week prior.
Yo-Kai Sangokushi ranked as the No. 3 best-selling software for the week selling 28,758 units for the week.
Nintendo this week released Pokemon Rumble World for the Nintendo 3DS.
In Pokemon Rumble World, users battle Toy Pokemon against wild Toy Pokemon.
The title includes 719 Pokemon, including Mega Evolve Pokemon.
The final game includes 18 different areas and 80 stages.
Nintendo this week said it will release new DLC Maps to Fire Emblem Fates for the Nintendo 3DS to the Nintendo eShop May 5th.
The first map, I: In Endless Dreams, will be sold May 5 at 49 cents. Each subsequent map will be sold each week through June 9 at $1.99 each.
All maps can be purchased in Map Pack 2 for $7.99.
Nintendo this week said the mobile game Miitomo has surpassed 10 million users worldwide.
In addition, the app has initiated 300 million conversations and 20 million Miifotos.
Miitomo allows users to design their own avatars and is said to encourage people to share things about themselves.
