Nintendo Co. Ltd. this week said Fire Emblem Fates for the Nintendo 3DS held the best-ever launch for the franchise in launch weekend sales.

The company said the title sold 300,000 units across all versions and is the fastest-selling game in the history of the series.

In addition, the title sold more than five times Fire Emblem Awakening in the first three days of launch.

New Fire EmblemFire Emblem Fates is a turn-based strategy title.

The title is sold in two versions – Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright and Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest.

In Birthright, the user must battle the corrupted King of Nohr beside a family of strangers. In Conquest, users must fight to change their misguided kingdom within.

The final game includes the new My Castle area to interact with allies and build stronger relationships, Fire Emblem amiibo compatibility, downloadable DLC and a third story path called Fire Emblem Fates: Revolution to be available for purchase in-game.

It sells at $39.99.
