Sony Corp. this week said the Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 1 hardware in Dec. U.S. retail sales.
The company said the PS4 ranked as the top-selling console in the U.S. in Dec.
Sony in Jan. said sales of the Playstation 4 have reached 35.9 million units in global markets.
The figure is as of Jan. 3, 2016.
The PS4 hardware sold more than 5.7 million units in the 2015 holiday season. PS4 software sales totaled more than 35 million copies in global retail stores and digital downloads.
Finally, 60 percent more users subscribed to Playstation Plus at the end of 2015.
The Game and Network Services division, which includes the Playstation business, held an operating income of $199 million, an increase from $160 million the year prior.
Sony held a net profit of $280 million on revenue of $15.8 billion in the second quarter.
