Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 1 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 30,349 units between Oct. 5 to Oct. 11 to rank No. 1 in overall hardware sales.

It sold 46,177 units the week prior.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection ranked as the No. 3 software for the week selling 24,867 units at launch.

Square Enix Holdings Co. Ltd. this week released Dragon Quest Heroes: The World’s Tree Woe and the Blight Below for the Playstation 4.

Dragon Quest Heroes is an action-RPG developed by Omega Force.

The title includes an army of enemies and giant monsters designed by artist Akira Toriyama in strategic battles.

EA Inc. this week said the Multiplayer Beta for Star Wars Battlefront held more than nine million users in the preview session.

The beta, from Oct. 8 to Oct. 12, featured Walker Assault on Hoth, a 40-player battle between the Rebels and the Empire; Drop Zone on Sullust, an eight vs. eight battle to control Escape Pods; and Survival Mission on Tatooine, a co-op online or offline battle to hold of Imperial forces waves.

NIS America Inc. this week said The Witch and the Hundred Knight: Revival Edition for the Playstation 4 will be sold Mar. 1, 2016.

The Witch and the Hundred Knight: Revival Edition is an action RPG in which users control the Hundred Knight in weapon and magic-based battles.

Activision Blizzard Inc. this week released the Morg City Zombies Theme Preview Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

The trailer previews the dynamic theme for Multiplayer Beta users.

Sales for the PS Vita ranked as the No. 2 video game hardware in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 15,038 units between Oct. 5 and Oct. 11 to rank as the No. 3 hardware for the week.

It sold 15,998 units the week prior.

Minecraft: PS Vita Edition ranked as the No. 16 software for the week selling.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One hardware ranked at No. 6 in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox One sold 224 units between Oct. 5 and Oct. 11 to rank No. 6 in overall sales.

It sold 203 units the week prior.

Microsoft this week said the Campaign component of Halo 5: Guardians for the Xbox One will include 15 missions.

The campaign is estimated to hold eight to 12 hours of gameplay.

In addition, Microsoft previewed the Launch Playlist for the multiplayer component of Halo 5: Guardians for the Xbox One.

The Launch Playlist will include Warzone, Warzone Assault, Team Arena, Slayer, Breakout, Free-For-All, Swat, and Weekend Social.

Microsoft this week said it will broadcast a launch celebration for Halo 5: Guardians for the Xbox One on YouTube Oct. 26.

Halo 5: Live is a six-hour broadcast to include gameplay reveals, live interviews with the development team, and celebrity appearances.

It will begin Oct. 26 at 6PM EDT.

Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware ranked second in Japan in the latest sales data for the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 11,594 units between Oct. 5 and Oct. 11 to rank at No. 4 in overall sales.

It sold 12,843 units the week prior.

Super Mario Maker ranked as the No. 4 software for the week.

Nintendo has began distribution of the NX development kit to software developers according to a new report this week.

The The Wall Street Journal this week said the development kit will be used by third-party developers to modify existing games or create new titles.

It claims the console may be sold with a mobile unit that could be used in conjunction with the hardware or used as a stand-alone device.

In addition, it said Nintendo would utilize industry-leading chips in NX hardware. By comparison, the Wii U and the Wii incorporated low-powered chips in order to minimize production costs.

Nintendo this week released Yoshi’s Woolly World for the Wii U to U.S. retail.

The side-scrolling action title features a yarn-based world and incorporates two-player cooperative functionality.

The Nintendo 3DS ranked as the No. 2 hardware in Japan in the latest sales data from the territory.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 23,566 units between Oct. 5 and Oct. 11 to rank as the No. 2 game hardware for the week.

The hardware sold 24,250 units the week prior.

Chibi-Robo: Zip Lash! ranked as the No. 9 software for the week selling 14,096 units at launch.

Nintendo this week released the The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes demo for the Nintendo 3DS to select owners.

The demo allows users to preview the title with a friend in local co-op mode or in three-player online co-op mode between Oct. 16 to Oct. 18.
