Sales for Sony Corp. Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 2 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 18,503 units between Aug. 10 to Aug. 16 to rank No. 2 in overall hardware sales.
It sold 14,619 units the week prior.
Sony this week said it will release a new Playstation 4 bundle that includes EA Inc. Star Wars Battlefront.
The limited edition bundle, to be sold Nov. 17, will include the custom PS4 500GB console with Darth Vador image, custom wireless Dualshock 4 Controller, Star Wars Battlefront Deluxe Edition, and a digital voucher to download four classic Star Wars titles – Super Star Wars, Star Wars: Racer Revenge, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, and Star Wars Bounty Hunter.
In addition, it will release the Playstation 4 500GB Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars Bundle exclusively at Wal-Mart Stores Inc. locations.
The bundle will include the custom PS4 500GB console with Darth Vador image, custom wireless Dualshock 4 Controller, Disney Infinity 3.0 Starter Pack, Rise Against the Empire Set Pack, Boba Fett Figure, and a digital voucher to download four classic Star Wars titles – Super Star Wars, Star Wars: Racer Revenge, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, and Star Wars Bounty Hunter.
Sony this week said it will begin a software beta test for the next Playstation System Software in Sept.
PS4 owners can sign up to become a beta tester for the update.
In addition, beta testers can roll back to System Software Update v2.57 at any time.
Activision Blizzard Inc. this week released the Multiplayer Beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops III to the Playstation 4.
The Multiplayer includes three game maps – Hunted, Combine, and Evac against Game Modes including Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Demolition, Domination, Hardpoint, Search and Destroy and Capture the Flag.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III, to be sold Nov. 6, is said to take place in the future in which a new breed of Black Ops soldiers and the lines between humanity and technology are blurred.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One hardware ranked at No. 6 in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox One sold 195 units between Aug. 10 and Aug. 16 to rank No. 6 in overall sales.
It sold 200 units the week prior.
Microsoft this week released the Xbox App for Windows 10 Aug. Update which includes new 1080p game streaming functionality from the Xbox One to Windows 10 PCs.
The new update allows users to stream Xbox One games to a Windows 10 PC at 1080p resolution at 60 frames-per-second.
In addition, the new update includes the option to disable Notifications, display Recently Played games, compare Achievements with a friend, and option to manually add games to a Collection.
Ubisoft Inc. this week said it will release Rainbow Six Siege Dec 1.
The title was previously scheduled to be released Oct. 13.
The publisher cited improving co-op functionality, weapon and gadget balancing, and menu and interface navigation.
The first-person shooter title will include tactical environmental destruction, hostage situations, breach and stronghold tactics.
Microsoft this week previewed final vehicles to be included in Forza Motorsport 6 for the Xbox One.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 16,567 units between Aug. 10 and Aug. 16 to rank at No. 4 in overall sales.
It sold 13,007 units the week prior.
Splatoon ranked as the No. 3 software for the week selling 41,361 units for the week. It ranked at No. 4 the week prior.
Nintendo Co. this week said it will release Pokkén Tournament for the Wii U.
Developed by Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc., Pokkén Tournament is an arcade fighting title that will include trademark Pokemon characters in battle.
The title will be sold in spring 2016.

Mojang AB this week released the Minecraft Windows 10 Edition Beta 0.12.0.1.
The new version includes real fullscreen functionality, PC-like sprinting, changeable FOV, improved Anvil UI, option to import creative world saves to Trial version, and fixed bugs and crashes.
The title includes eight-player local and online craft functionality, multiple input support, and GameDVR functionality to record and share gameplay.
Minecraft PC owners can download the Windows 10 Edition Beta at no cost.
