Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 2 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 18,740 units between July 27 to Aug. 2 to rank No. 2 in overall hardware sales.
It sold 14,485 units the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any software in the top 10 for the week.
Sony this week said it will release the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection Special Edition for the Playstation 4 later this summer.
The Special Edition SKU will include a Steelbook Case, Sticker Sheet, and The Art of Uncharted Trilogy Artbook.
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, to be sold Oct. 9, will include Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception at 1080p resolution and 60 frames-per-second graphics fidelity.
Sony this week discounted titles for the Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and PS Vita in the PS Store Summer Sale Week 2 event.
Discounted titles include Assassin’s Creed Unity PS4 at $31.99 ($29.99 PS Plus), Far Cry 3 Dragon Blood PS3 at $4.95, and Danganronpa PS Vita at $20.00 ($16.00 PS Plus).
The sale ends Aug. 11.
Capcom Co. this week announced Vega to the fight roster in Street Fighter V for the Playstation 4 and the PC.
Vega features a brand new look, trademark moves and two distinct fighting modes – with claw and without claw.
Vega can sheathe his claw to utilize a new command grab and new attack moves but cannot retrieve his claw if knocked off by an opponent.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One hardware ranked at No. 6 in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox One sold 186 units between July 27 and Aug. 2 to rank No. 6 in overall sales.
It sold 211 units the week prior.
Microsoft this week said it will sell the Xbox One Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition 1TB Bundle to U.S. retail.
The bundle, to be sold Oct. 20, will include a custom designed Xbox One 1TB console with custom sound effects, custom Xbox One Wireless Controller, and Halo 5: Guardians with Steel Book case at $499.99.
Microsoft this week released Rare Replay for the Xbox One.
Rare Replay, available to pre-order for the Xbox One from Xbox.com or the Xbox Dashboard, will include 30 hits developed by Rare for $30.
Titles include Perfect Dark, Battletoads, Viva Pinata, Killer Instinct Gold Edition, and more.
Microsoft this week said Quantum Break for the Xbox One will be sold Apr. 2016.
It was previously scheduled to be sold in 2015.
Quantum Break is a cinematic action title that includes time-amplified gameplay. In the title, Jack Joyce struggles to prevent the end of time in a battle against the evil corporation Monarch Solutions.
Microsoft this week said it will release Crackdown 3 to the Xbox One in 2016.
The multiplayer beta will launch in summer 2016.
Microsoft this week said customers who purchase Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for the Xbox One will unlock the Gears of War franchise for Xbox 360 at no cost.
Under the program, customers who purchase Gears of War: Ultimate Edition or Xbox One Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Bundle and play Gears of War: Ultimate Edition between Aug. 25 and Dec. 31, 2015 will unlock Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3 and Gears of War Judgment for Xbox 360 via backwards compatibility.
Microsoft this week said it will release Killer Instinct Season 3 to the Xbox One and Windows 10 in Mar. 2016.
The title will feature eight new characters, including Rash from Battletoads.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 11,938 units between July 27 and Aug. 2 to rank at No. 4 in overall sales.
It sold 11,257 units the week prior.
Splatoon ranked as the No. 4 software for the week selling 28,256 units for the week.
Nintendo this week released a new software update for Splatoon for the Wii U.
The free software update includes two new matchmaking modes, new weapon types, level cap increase, and more than 40 pieces of new gear.
New matchmaking modes include Squad Battle to participate in Ranked Battle with friends and Private Battle to create private, customizable matches between two to eight friends.
Nintendo this week released free updates and DLC to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.
Free updates include a K.K. Slider costume for Mii Fighters, new Community Tournament and Regular Tournament modes, and the option to upload saved replays to YouTube.
New DLC includes new Mii Fighter costumes, and Peach’s Castle and Hyrule Castle stages from the Nintendo 64 version.
Nintendo this week said it will release new amiibo figures to U.S. retail this Sept.
Figures to be sold Sept. 11 include Super Mario Bros. 20th Anniversary Mario amiibo, Dr. Mario, Bowser Jr., Ganondorf, Olimar, and Zero Suit Samus.
In addition, the Retro 3 Pack which includes Duck Hunt, R.O.B., and Mr. Game & Watch, will be sold Sept. 25.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 55,124 units between July 27 and Aug. 2 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 28,287 units the week prior.
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer ranked as the No. 1 software for the week selling 522,556 units for the week.
Nintendo this week said it will sell The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes to the Nintendo 3DS Oct. 23.
The title will include three-player local and online co-op functionality to adventure through classic dungeon-based gameplay. Local co-op will require one game card.
