Konami Corp. this week removed Hideo Kojima from the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain box art for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One, Xbox 360 and the PC.

The box art, which previously read ‘A Hideo Kojima Game’, has been removed from the final box art.

The removal follows reports of turmoil between parent company Konami and Metal Gear Solid franchise developer Kojima Productions.

Developed by Kojima Productions, the latest entry in the Metal Gear Solid franchise is a prequel that will focus on Big Boss.

The title utilizes a new proprietary Fox Engine and features an open-world environment.

The final game will feature open-world gameplay, new sneaking abilities such as hiding on horse back, new dynamic CQC, and vehicle options.

The Day 1 Edition will include a map and DLC items – Adam-ska Special Handgun, Personal Ballistic Shield (Silver), Cardboard Box (Wetland), Fatigues (Blue Urban Snake Costume), and the Metal Gear Online XP Boost at $49.99 to $59.99.

The Collector’s Edition will include the Half Scale Replica of Snake’s Bionic Arm, Collectible SteelBook, Behind-the-Scenes Documentary & Trailers Blu-ray disc, Map, Exclusive Packaging, DLC Items, Three Cardboard Boxes, and Four Snake Costumes at $99.99.

It will be sold Sept. 1. The PC SKU will be sold Sept. 15.
