Nintendo Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS has sold 15 million units in the U.S.

The hardware is the eight Nintendo hardware to sell at least 15 million units in the U.S.

In Feb., the company began sale of the new Nintendo 3DS XL which includes a 4.88-inch screen and up to seven hours of battery life.

In addition, it features a new C-stick for camera controls, new ZL and ZR buttons, new Super-Stable 3D functionality to provide a more comfortable 3D experience, and new NFC technology to support amiibo figures.

For the fourth quarter, the company held revenue of $350 million and an operating profit of $250 million.

Nintendo 3DS handhelds sold 8.73 million units, a decline from 12.24 million the year prior. 3DS hardware has sold 52 million units to date.
