Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 3 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 13,793 units between Jan. 19 and Jan. 25 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.
It sold 15,480 units the week prior.
The PS3 sold 8,600 units to rank at No. 5 in the same period.
Tales of Zestiria for the PS3 ranked as the No. 1 title for the week selling 340,891 units at launch.
The Resident Evil HD Remaster PS4 SKU ranked at No. 23 at launch.
Sega Corp. this week said it will release Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax for the Playstation 3 and PS Vita in summer 2015.
Developed by Ecole and French Bread, Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax is a 2D crossover fighting game that features popular characters from novels published under the Dengeki Bunko brand.
The final game is said to include highly balanced characters and a Climax Meter to execute moves and recreate scenes from original novels.
The title will be sold via digital download.
Sony this week released the Apex Expansion Pack DLC for DriveClub for the Playstation 4 to the Playstation Network division.
The Expansion Pack includes the Apex Car Pack and Apex Tour Pack.
The Apex Car Pack includes the Enzo Ferrari, Caterham R500 Superlight, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Centennial Edition, McLaren 650S Coupe, and Jaguar C-X75 Prototype Edition.
The Apex Tour Pack includes 11 new Events and five new Trophies.
The Apex Expansion Pack DLC is available at no cost.
Sony this week announced new details for MLB 15: The Show for the Playstation 4.
The title will include Year-to-Year Saves to transfer PS4, PS3, and PS Vita data from MLB 14: The Show to continue Franchise and Road to the Show progress.
PS4, PS3 gameplay improvements include advanced AI logic results, upgraded motion system, all new slide and tag system, enhanced ball physics, and new situational base covering intelligence.
In addition, PS4 and PS3 SKUs will feature licensed equipment and Universal Rewards.
All SKUs will include a new Franchise Mode, Directional Hitting Interface, and 30 playable Legends.
Sony this week said it will launch Playstation Music with Spotify as an exclusive partner this spring.
Playstation Music is a new music division in the Playstation Network that will integrate the Spotify digital music service.
PSN users can link their accounts with Spotify, which will offer 30 million songs and 1.5 billion playlists on the Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and Xperia smartphones and tablets.
In addition, PS4 owners will be able to use Spotify while playing games.
The service will launch in 41 countries.
Sony this week announced new titles to be released in Feb. to Playstation Plus members for the Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and PS Vita.
New PS4 titles include Transistor, Apotheon, and Rogue Legacy. PS3 titles include Yakuza 4, Thief, and Rogue Legacy. Finally, PS Vita titles include Rogue Legacy and Kick & Fennick.
Double Fine Productions and Lucasfilm this week released Grim Fandango Remastered for the Playstation 4, PS Vita and the PC.
Grim Fandango Remastered includes updated graphics, a new live orchestral soundtrack, additional control schemes, and developer commentary.
The Grim Fandango Remastered is a Cross-Buy title at $14.99.
PC, Mac, and Linux SKUs sell at $14.99 each.
Sales for the Playstation Vita ranked as the No. 2 video game hardware in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 15,580 units between Jan. 19 and Jan. 25 to rank as the No. 2 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 17,505 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked two titles in the top 10, Atelier Escha & Logy Plus: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky at No. 6 and Tsurugi no Machi no Ihoujin: Kuro no Oukyuu at No. 8.
NIS America Inc. this week released Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth2: Sisters Generation for the Playstation Vita in physical and digital retail in the U.S.
The title is based on Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 for the Playstation 3 and includes a new story, revamped battle system, newly voiced characters, and new playable characters.
It sells at $39.99.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One hardware ranked as the No. 6 hardware in the latest retail data from Japan.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox One sold 259 units between Jan. 19 to Jan. 25 to rank No. 6 in overall sales.
It sold 300 units the week prior.
Microsoft this week said the company sold 6.6 million Xbox One and Xbox 360 hardware consoles combined in the second quarter.
By comparison, the company sold 7.4 million Xbox One and Xbox 360 units combined in the second quarter of 2014.
For the quarter ended Dec. 31, Xbox platform revenue decreased $703 million or 10 percent in total console volume.
The company cited the transition from Xbox 360 to Xbox One with lower prices compared to the year prior and lower revenue from second and third-party video games and accessories.
Microsoft this week announced Xbox Live Games with Gold titles to be released in Feb.
New titles include #IDARB (Feb. 1 to Feb. 28) and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (Feb. 1 to Feb. 15) for the Xbox One, and Sniper Elite V2 for the Xbox 360 (Feb. 16 to Feb. 28).
Capcom Co. this week said Raid Mode for Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be offline at launch in late Feb.
The company said online functionality will be enabled when all four episodes have been released in Mar.
Raid Mode is a shoot-and-loot action mode in which users battle through a horde of enemies and collect new weapons.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware ranked fifth in Japan in the latest sales data for the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 7,088 units between Jan. 19 to Jan. 25 to rank at No. 5 in overall sales.
It sold 8,894 units the week prior.
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse ranked as the No. 3 best-selling software for the week selling 32,137 units at launch.
Nintendo this week said amiibo figures have sold 5.7 million units in global territories since launch in Nov. 2014.
amiibo is a new line of NFC-enabled toy figures that can transfer the character and respective data to the Wii U GamePad.
Nintendo this week released Metroid Prime: Trilogy to the Wii U Virtual Console division
Metroid Prime: Trilogy includes Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.
The title sells at $9.99 through Feb. 5 8:59AM PST, and will subsequently sell at $19.99.
Retailer Amazon.com Inc. this week began pre-order sales for Mario Party 10 + Mario amiibo Bundle for the Wii U.
The Mario Party 10 + Mario amiibo Bundle includes the Mario Party 10 software and Mario Party amiibo at $59.99.
Mario Party 10, to be sold Mar. 20, includes brand new game boards, mini-games, amiibo party, and brand-new Bowser Party Mode to play as Bowser.
The stand-alone version will sell at $49.99.
The Nintendo 3DS ranked as the No. 1 hardware in Japan in the latest sales data from the territory.
Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 44,229 units between Jan. 19 and Jan. 25 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 57,674 units the week prior.
Yo-Kai Watch 2 ranked as the No. 1 software for the week. It has sold 2.37M units since launch. Pokemon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire ranked as the No. 2 software for the week. The titles have sold 2.45 million units in the region to date.
Finally, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate ranked at the No. 7 best-selling software for the week.
Nintendo this week released The Time Has Come Trailer for The Legend of Zelda Majora’s Mask 3D for the Nintendo 3DS.
The trailer features story and gameplay elements from the final game.
The Legend of Zelda Majora’s Mask, released to the Nintendo 64 in 2000, includes Link in an adventure to stop the moon from crashing into Termina.
