Sony Corp. this week said the Playstation 4 was the No. 1 best-selling console in 2014 in the U.S. and global territories.

The PS4 sold more than 4.1 million units in the holiday period.

The PS4 has sold more than 18.5 million units in global territories.

Sony this week said the Playstation 4 500GB SKU now includes The Last of Us Remastered at no additional cost.

The bundle sells at $399.99.

The Last of Us Remastered includes full 1080p resolution, upgraded character models, improved shadows and lighting. In addition, it includes the Abandoned Territories Map Pack, Reclaimed Territories Map Pack, and The Last of Us: Left Behind Single Player campaign.

Sony this week said Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V for the Playstation 4 ranked as the top-selling PS4 digital software at the Playstation Network division.

In Dec. 2014, Grand Theft Auto V ranked as the No. 1 best-selling PS4 title at the Playstation Store for the month.

Activision Blizzard Inc.’s Destiny for the Playstation 3 ranked in the top 10 sales in the Playstation Network division in Dec. 2014.

In Dec., the Destiny PS3 SKU ranked as the No. 7 best-selling PS3 digital download software titles.

Sony this week said it will release Toukiden: Kiwami for the Playstation 4 and the PS Vita Mar. 31.

The title will be sold in physical and digital formats.

Toukiden: Kiwami is a third-person monster hunter title that will include the Toukiden: Age of Demons story and a brand new story of the same size that follows the original.

The final game includes new weapons, new Mitama, new Slayers, new moves, four-player co-op functionality, and a save data transfer option from Toukiden: Age of Demons.

Idea Factory International this month said it will release Hyperdevotion Noire Goddess Black Heart for the Playstation Vita Feb. 24 at U.S. retail.

The title will be sold in physical and digital formats at launch.

Hyperdevotion Noire Goddess Black Heart is a turn-based strategy RPG. Options include the Lily Boost to grant special stats and abilities, Lily Points to activate special moves, and customizable gear.

NIS America Inc. this week said it will release Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth2: Sisters Generation for the Playstation Vita in physical and digital retail in the U.S. Jan. 27.

The title is based on Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 for the Playstation 3 and includes a new story, revamped battle system, newly voiced characters, and new playable characters.

Microsoft Corp. this week said the Xbox One ranked as the No. 1 hardware in the U.S. in Dec. retail sales.

The company said Nov. to Dec. sales of the hardware outpaced the Xbox 360 by 50 percent at the same point in its lifecycle.

The hardware was heavily promoted in the U.S. during the holiday shopping period, with Xbox One bundles discounted to as low as $329 with additional gift card incentives.

In Nov., Microsoft price cut all Xbox One hardware and bundles by $50. This month, it redeployed the $50 price cut at U.S. retail.

Microsoft this week previewed the Feb. System Update for the Xbox One.

The Feb. Update will Game Hubs, Custom Backgrounds and Tile Transparency, TV Trending in OneGuide, and Improved Control of TVs, set-top boxes, and audio/video receivers.

Microsoft this week said the Xbox One received an Emmy Award at the 66th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards.

The company said the product received an Emmy Award for Television Enhancement Devices due to television-on-demand and media center functionality.

Microsoft this month said Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Inc.’s Dying Light for the Xbox One is now available for pre-order and pre-download via Xbox Live.

Pre-order and pre-download options apply to Dying Light and Dying Light Ultimate Edition.

Dying Light, to be sold Jan. 27, is a first-person survival horror title set in a zombie-apocalypse open world.

Microsoft this week said it will release Forza Motorsport 6 to the Xbox One.

Forza Motorsport 6 will feature Ford performance vehicles including the Ford GT, Shelby GT350 Mustang, and the F-150 Raptor.

Microsoft this week previewed Week 3 of the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta.

Week 3 includes the all-new Strongholds mode and the new map Pegasus.

In addition, weapons include the Sniper Rifle, Energy Sword, Bane, and the Rocket Launcher.

The Multiplayer Beta will run through Jan. 18, 2015. It will feature 4 vs. 4 combat in seven maps and three game types.

Bandai Namco Games America Inc. this month said it will release Dragon Ball Xenoverse Feb. 24, 2015 to U.S. retail.

The title was previously scheduled to be released Feb. 17.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse is a fighting title that will include full 3D destructible levels and a Master System to train a custom character with a Dragon Ball character to learn skillsets and strengths.

Sega Corp. this week released the Safe Haven DLC Alien: Isolation.
Safe Haven includes the Salvage Challenge to complete a series of ten challenges without dying, and new playable character Hughes, Sevastapol Station’s Communications Manager.

It sells at $7.99.

Nintendo Co. this week said sales for the Wii U hardware increased 29 percent in the month of Dec. at U.S. retail.

The company said the hardware held a 29 percent increase in sales and a 75 percent increase in software sales from 2013.

Top titles for the year included Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Mario Kart 8 has sold 1.7 million physical and digital units, while Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has sold 1.3 million physical and digital units in 2014.

Nintendo this week said it will release Kirby and the Rainbow Curse for the Wii Feb. 20.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse allows users to control Kirby with the Wii U GamePad stylus to draw a path for Kirby to follow.

The final game will include a four-player co-op option, and amiibo compatibility to equip Kirby with additional powers and health.

Nintendo this week said it will sell new Super Mario Series amiibo products will be sold in Mar. 20 at U.S. retail.

The line of figures are inspired by the Super Mario series includes new models of Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, and Bowser.

Nintendo this week said Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS has sold two million units at retail.

The company said the title sold two million physical and digital units in 2014.

Nintendo Co. this week said it will sell new Nintendo 3DS XL hardware in the U.S. Feb. 13.

The new Nintendo 3DS XL will include a 4.88-inch screen and up to seven hours of battery life.

In addition, it will feature a new C-stick for camera controls, new ZL and ZR buttons, new Super-Stable 3D functionality to provide a more comfortable 3D experience, and new NFC technology to support amiibo figurines.

Nintendo this week a new entry in the Fire Emblem series for the Nintendo 3DS.

The trailer features an epic story with trademark grid-based strategy tactics.

The title will be sold in 2015.

Capcom Co. this week said it will release Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for the Nintendo 3DS Feb. 13.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is an online RPG that includes four-player co-op via the Nintendo Network, two new weapon classes, all-new areas, and touch-screen functionality.

Nintendo this week said it will release Code Name S.T.E.A.M. for the Nintendo 3DS Mar. 13 to U.S. retail.

Code Name S.T.E.A.M. is an action strategy title that includes heroes from classic literature and American folklore to defend against an alien invasion.

The final game will include amiibo functionality to allow users to import a Fire Emblem figure to battle as playable character.

Bandai Namco Games America Inc. this week said it will release Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy+ for Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS Feb. 13 to U.S. retail.

Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy+ is a flight simulation action title that offers new and added features for the new Nintendo 3DS XL, including new C-stick and ZL/ZR button functionality.

The title was originally release to the Nintendo 3DS in 2012.

Rockstar Games this week said it will delay the release of Grand Theft Auto V for the PC to Mar. 24.

The title was scheduled to be released in fall 2014, then Jan. 2015.
