Garmin International Inc. this week announced the vivoactive GPS smartwatch at the International CES in Las Vegas, NV.
The vivoactive GPS smartwatch is a lightweight GPS-enabled smartwatch with built-in sports and activity tracking applications. It includes a high-resolution touchscreen to display smartphone notifications and control the music player.
In addition to step, calorie and distance monitoring, the hardware includes a running app to display pace, time and distance using GPS, a cycling app to track distance, speed and calories, and a golf app to download golf course data, measure distance using GPS, and keep stroke play scorecards.
Finally, the device is water-resistant and includes a swimming app to track distance and calories burned.
The vivoactive GPS smartwatch is said to feature three-weeks battery life or 10 hours with GPS.
It will be sold in Q1 in black or white at $249.99 and $299.99 with a heart rate monitor bundle.
Prior devices from the company include the Vivofit Fitness Band.
