Nintendo Co. this week said it will release Duck Hunt to the Wii U Virtual Console division Dec. 25.

The NES classic will be compatible with the Wii Remote controller to shoot ducks and clay targets with a hunting dog.

The Wii U sold 610,000 units in the period, more than double the 300,000 units sold one year earlier.

The console has sold 7.29 million units to date worldwide.

The company plans to sell 3.6 million Wii U consoles this fiscal year.
