Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 3 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 8,906 units between Oct. 27 and Nov. 2 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.
It sold 8,942 units at launch the week prior.
The PS3 sold 5,066 units to rank at No. 5 in the same period.
The Evil Within PS3 SKU ranked at No. 5 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel ranked at No. 7 for the week.
Sony Corp. this week released the System Software Update v2.01 for the Playstation 4.
System Software Update v2.01 address freezes and boot errors caused when the system is powered from Rest Mode.
System Software Update v2.0, released in Oct., includes YouTube support to upload captured videos to the service, USB Music Player to play music from a USB flash drive, Theme color change options, an improved Content Area, and enhanced voice commands.
In addition, the update includes Share Play to allow two Playstation Plus members to share the screen with a friend, pass the controller to each other online, or have a friend join in as player two in a co-op title without the requirement to own the game.
The first-person mode will allow users to experience Los Santos and Blaine County and include a new cover system, targeting system, and FPS control scheme. Users can switch between the standard and first-person view instantly.
Sony this week said Warner Bros. Interactive Inc.’s Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor for the Playstation 4 ranked as the top-selling title in the Playstation Network division in Oct.
In Oct., Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor ranked as the No. 1 best-selling PS4 title for the month.
Sony this week released the 10th Anniversary Expansion Pack DLC for Killzone: Shadow Fall for the Playstation 4.
The DLC includes two new Multiplayer Character Skins, two new OWL Skins, two new Voice Packs, two new Player Card Icon Packs, and new Crosshairs Customization.
The DLC sells at $9.99 and is available at no cost to Season Pass holders.
Sony this week released Singstar for the Playstation 4 and Playstation 3.
The download title is available at no cost via the Playstation Network.
Users can purchase song titles at $1.49 each or five-song packs at $5.99 each.
In addition, the Singstar Mic application for Android and iOS is now available to allow owners to use their smart device as a microphone.
Sony this month released the Playstation Silver Wired Stereo Headset for the Playstation 4 and Playstation 3 to U.S. retail.
The Playstation Silver Wired Stereo Headset includes full 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound. In addition, the headset can be connected to the PS Vita or other mobile device.
Finally, the headset includes a retractable boom mic to communicate online.
It sells at $69.99.
Sony this week released new game titles to Playstation Plus members for the Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and the PS Vita.
New titles include The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (PS4, PS Vita), Steamworld Dig (PS4, PS Vita), Frozen Synapse Prime (PS3), Escape Plan (PS4, PS Vita), and The Hungry Horde (PS Vita).
Telltale Games this week released The Wolf Among Us retail SKU for the Playstation 4, Playstation 3 and PS Vita.
The retail SKU includes all five episodes in the series. The PS Vita version includes analog or touchscreen controls.

Microsoft this week released the Remaking The Legend – Halo 2: Anniversary Documentary for the Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
The documentary chronicles the re-development of the Halo 2 component of Halo: The Master Chief Collection for the Xbox One.
CD Projekt RED this week said it will release 16 DLC pieces to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at no cost.
Beginning Feb. 25, the first two pieces of DLC content will be released, followed by two DLC pieces published every subsequent week.
The DLC will be available to all versions of the title and will not require a pre-order purchase.
Microsoft this week released the Falken Car Pack DLC to Forza Horizon 2 for the Xbox One to the Xbox Live division.
The Forza Horizon 2 Falken Car Pack DLC offers six vehicles, including the 2014 Alfa Romeo 4C, 2014 BMW M4 Coupe, 2014 Chevy SS, 1988 Lamborghini Jalpa, 1990 Subaru Legacy RS, and the 1969 Toyota 2000GT.
It sells at $5.00.

Nintendo this week previewed amiibo functionality for Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U.
Users who scan an amiibo figure to the title will receive a Mii racing suit themed to each specific amiibo. Each suit can be worn in the race.
Compatible figures include Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Link, Captain Falcon, Fox, Samus, and Kirby.

Capcom Co.’s Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate ranked as No. 1 software and Super Smash Bros. ranked at No. 3 for the week.
Nintendo this week said it will release The Legend of Zelda Majora’s Mask 3D for the Nintendo 3DS in spring 2015.
The Legend of Zelda Majora’s Mask, released to the Nintendo 64 in 2000, includes Link in an adventure to stop the moon from crashing into Termina.
The 3DS SKU will include new 3D graphics functionality.
