Nintendo Co. this week said Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS ranked as the No. 4 best-selling video game software in Sept. at U.S. retail.
NPD Group Inc. this week said Super Smash Bros. sold 705,000 units in Sept. A total of 135,000 units were sold digitally via the Nintendo eShop.
In addition, more than 140,000 Nintendo 3DS units were sold in Sept., a 55 percent increase from Aug.
The Super Smash Bros. 3DS SKU features 60 frames-per-second graphics fidelity in stereoscopic 3D. In addition, it includes an exclusive mode called Smash Run in which four players have five minutes to explore the dungeon and enter the battle arena with newly acquired items.
New challengers in the title include Greninja, Zero Suit Samus, Sheik, Yoshi, and Charizard.
Super Smash Bros. includes online multiplayer functionality to battle users on their respective platforms. The 3DS SKU includes a distinct set of battle arenas.
