Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 4 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 8,033 units between Sept. 22 to Sept. 28 to rank No. 4 in overall hardware sales.
It sold 8,939 units at launch the week prior.
The PS3 sold 6,026 units to rank at No. 5 in the same period.
Sony Corp. this week announced new titles to be released free to the Playstation Plus division of the Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and the PS Vita Oct. 7.
New titles include DriveClub PS Plus Edition (PS4), Dust: An Elysian Tail (PS4), Spelunky (PS4), Batman: Arkham Asylum (PS3), Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara (PS3), Pix the Cat (PS4 / PS Vita), and Rainbow Moon (PS3 / PS Vita).
Sony this week released the All Action Trailer for DriveClub for the Playstation 4.
The trailer features in-game action in day and night-based tracks.
Developed by Evolution Studios, DriveClub is a racing simulation title that features social networking functionality to allow users to form racing groups and race with friends.

Atlus USA Inc. this week released Persona 4 Arena Ultimax for the Playstation 3 and Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 to U.S. retail.
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax includes the original cast from Persona 3 and 4 in addition to new combatants like Junpei Iori, Yukari Takeba, and Rise Kujikawa.
Telltale Games this week said it will release The Walking Dead: Season Two to the Playstation 4, Playstation 3 and the PS Vita.
The retail SKU will include all five episodes of The Walking Dead: Season Two.
The PS4 and PS3 SKU will be sold Oct. 21 and the PS Vita Nov. 4.
Bandai Namco Games America Inc. this week released the Crown of the Ivory King DLC for Dark Souls II for the Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360, and the PC.
The Crown of the Ivory King DLC includes a new environments, enemies, traps and bosses.
It sells at $9.99.
Capcom Co. this week released of Ultra Street Fighter IV to the Playstation Now division.
PS4 and PS3 owners can stream the title via the Playstation Now service.
Activision Blizzard Inc. this week released Patch 1.02 for Destiny.
Patch 1.02 includes Cryptarch and Engram changes, Activity Changes, and Item Changes.

Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 16,716 units between Sept. 22 and Sept. 28 to rank as the No. 2 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 11,857 units the week prior.
The PS Vita ranked three titles in the top 10, including DanganRonpa: Another Episode at No. 3.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 102 units to rank at No. 8 in the same period.
Sony this week released System Software Update v3.30 to the PS Vita.
PS Vita System Software v3.30 includes support for Themes to allow users to change the wallpaper and icons in the OS.
Non-game themes are now available for purchase at the Playstation Store. Game themes including Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Tearaway and Freedom Wars will be available soon.

It sold 1,314 units the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any software titles in the top 10.
Microsoft this week released Forza Horizon 2 for the Xbox One to U.S. retail.
The Forza Horizon 2 Xbox One SKU is developed by Playground Games and will utilize the Forza Motorsport 5 game engine and Drivatar system.
The Xbox 360 SKU is developed by Sumo Digital and utilize the Forza Horizon engine.
The final game is set in Southern Europe and feature a range of vehicles, including the Lamborghini Huracán.
Mojang AB this week said it will release Minecraft: Xbox One Edition to the Xbox One Nov. 18.
The title includes four-player split-screen local multiplayer and eight player online multiplayer functionality.
Warner Bros. Interactive Inc. this week released Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor to U.S. retail.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is an open-world action role-playing game that will take place between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
The final game includes the option to customize and create new characters, and level up with distinct skill trees.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware ranked third in Japan in the latest sales data for the region.

It sold 8,396 units the week prior.
The Wii U ranked one title in the top 10, Fatal Frame: Oracle of the Sodden Raven at No. 7.
For the fiscal quarter ended June 30, Nintendo held a $97 million loss.
Nintendo this week deployed Wii U Software Update 5.2.02 to hardware owners.
The update includes the option to create Folders to organize software icons, updated Quick Start Menu, updated Home Menu, and improved system stability and usability.

Nintendo Co. this week released Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS to U.S. retail.
The 3DS SKU features 60 frames-per-second graphics fidelity in stereoscopic 3D. In addition, it includes an exclusive mode called Smash Run in which four players have five minutes to explore the dungeon and enter the battle arena with newly acquired items.
New challengers in the title include Greninja, Zero Suit Samus, Sheik, Yoshi, and Charizard.
Super Smash Bros. includes online multiplayer functionality to battle users on their respective platforms. The 3DS SKU includes a distinct set of battle arenas.
