Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 3 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 8,939 units between Sept. 15 to Sept. 21 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.
It sold 23,623 units at launch the week prior.
The PS3 sold 6,083 units to rank at No. 5 in the same period.
The Destiny PS4 SKU ranked as the No. 6 best-selling software for the week. The PS3 SKU ranked at No. 4 in the same period.
Sony this week said it will release Singstar for the Playstation 4 Oct. 28.
The download title will be sold via the Playstation Network for the PS4 and the PS3 at no cost.
Users can purchase song titles at $1.49 each or five-song packs at $5.99 each.
In addition, the company will release the Singstar Mic application for Android and iOS to allow owners to use their smart device as a microphone.
Sony this week said it will sell the Playstation TV hardware Oct. 14.
The Playstation TV stand-alone SKU will sell at $99.99.
The Playstation TV bundle will include the hardware, a Dualshock 3 Controller, 8GB Memory Card and digital voucher for LEGO: The Movie at $139.00.
The stand-alone hardware will offer the PS4 Remote Play functionality, the Playstation Now video game streaming service, the option to play select PS Vita titles, and standard streaming entertainment functionality.
Nearly 700 games will be available to play at launch, including Killzone: Mercenary, Persona 4 Golden, and Metal Gear Solid.
NIS America Inc. this week released Natural Doctrine for the Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and PS Vita.
Natural Doctrine is a tactical strategy RPG that includes single and multiplayer modes with versus and co-op functionality.
The final game includes a turn-based battle system on a large-scale battlefield, high difficulty, and Cross-Play and Cross-Save functionality.
The title is a decent turn-based strategy title that includes straight-forward mechanics and an upbeat narrative for short spurts or long hauls in a FINAL Review.
Aksys Games this week released Arcana Heart 3: Love Max!!!!! to the Playstation 3 and the PS Vita.
Arcana Heart 3: Love Max!!!!! is a 2D fighting title that includes 23 combatants that can be combined with 23 various celestial beings to alter stats and abilities.
The final game includes Trial Mode, Gallery Mode, Replays, and 60 frames-per-second graphics fidelity.
Sales for the Playstation Vita ranked as the No. 2 video game hardware in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 11,857 units between Sept. 15 and Sept. 21 to rank as the No. 2 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 13,148 units the week prior.
The PS Vita ranked one title in the top 10, Toukiden: The Age of Demons Extreme at No. 8.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 99 units to rank at No. 7 in the same period.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One hardware ranked as the No. 6 hardware at launch in Japan.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox One sold 1,314 units between Sept. 15 to Sept. 21 rank No. 6 in overall sales.
It sold 3,015 units the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any software titles in the top 10.
Microsoft this week said Comedy Central is now available in the Xbox Live division of the Xbox One.
The entertainment channel includes recent full episodes, stand-up specials, digital shorts, and classic series content.

Respawn Entertainment and EA Inc. this month said the IMC Rising DLC for Titanfall for the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and the PC will be sold this year.
The third DLC pack includes three new maps (Zone 18 – The Robotics Lab, Backwater – The Bootlegging Colony, and Sand Trap – Desert Wasteland).
Capcom Co. this week said it will release Omega Mode to Ultra Street Fighter IV for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 this year.
Omega Mode is a brand new mode in which each character is modified with new normal and special attacks to emphasize new gameplay rather than balanced gameplay.
The mode will include online versus functionality but will be limited to unranked matches.
Bandai Namco Games America Inc. this month released new details for Dragon Ball Xenoverse.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse will include a Master System to train a custom character with a Dragon Ball character to learn skillsets and strengths.
In addition, the title will include Dragon Ball characters Mira, Towa, TokiToki, and Supreme Kai of Time.
Disney Interactive Studios Inc. this week released Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes 2.0 Edition.
Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes features six Marvel characters including Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor, Captain America, Hulk and Hawkeye. More than 12 additional Marvel and Disney characters to be sold post release.
The title includes an all-new Toy Box to create and share custom levels and mini-games. In addition, all characters and power discs from the prior release will be compatible with Disney Infinity 2.0.
Sega Corp. this week released the Distress Trailer for Alien: Isolation.
The trailer is an extended TV ad that features quick cuts of gameplay from the title.
Developed by Creative Assembly, Alien: Isolation is a first-person survival horror title that includes Amanda Ripley, daughter of franchise veteran Ellen Ripley.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware ranked fourth in Japan in the latest sales data for the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 8,396 units between Sept. 15 and Sept. 21 to rank at No. 4 in overall sales.
It sold 7,062 units the week prior.
Nintendo this week released Hyrule Warriors for the Wii U to U.S. retail.
Developed by Tecmo Koei Holdings Co., Hyrule Warriors is based on the Dynasty Warriors franchise and features Link in large-scale battles.
The title features trademark playable characters including Link and Captain Impa on a quest to save Princess Zelda from the evil sorceress Cia.
The stage structure is similar to prior Dynasty Warriors titles in which users must defend or reclaim areas by fighting hordes of enemies.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 43,592 units between Sept. 15 and Sept. 21 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 39,569 units the week prior.
It ranked four titles in the top 10, with Super Smash Bros. at No. 1. The title has sold 1.26 million copies since launch.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Inc. this week released Gauntlet via Steam for the PC.
Developed by Arrowhead Studios, Gauntlet is a reboot of the arcade classic that will include trademark characters the Warrior, Wizard, Valkyrie, and Elf.
The title includes four-player co-op functionality and fantasy-based monsters, including ghosts, grunts, demons, spiders, sorcerers, and skeleton warriors.
The final game will offer full support for SteamOS and Steam Machines in 2015.
