Nintendo Co. this month began sale of the Super Smash Bros. Edition Nintendo 3DS XL at U.S. retail.
The Red and Blue hardware features a dozen characters including Mario, Link, Samus and Pikachu on the hardware cover.
It sells at $199.99.
The Super Smash Bros. 3DS SKU, to be sold Oct. 3, will feature 60 frames-per-second graphics fidelity in stereoscopic 3D.
In addition, it will include an exclusive mode called Smash Run which four players have five minutes to explore the dungeon and enter the battle arena with newly acquired items.
For the fiscal quarter ended June 30, Nintendo held a $97 million loss.
The Nintendo 3DS handheld sold 820,000 units in the quarter, a decline from 1.4 million units one year ago.
