Activision Blizzard Inc. this week that it has sold more than $500 million of Destiny product for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One, Xbox 360 and the PC in the first 24 hours of release.
The title launched in more than 11,000 midnight openings at global retail.
Destiny tells the story of a thriving civilization that has been destroyed. Survivors built a town beneath the old world which has since become filled with deadly foes. Users take the role of a Guardian to reclaim Earth and defeat all enemies.
The title is an online-only first-person shooter that requires a persistent online connection. The massive multiplayer online shooter includes an open-world universe in which users can meet in public zones to meet with other players for co-op action.
Each planet consists of an entire chapter in the game, with more chapters available as each planet is completed.
The final game includes full character customization, various classes, races, ships that can be customized, and cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes.
The Limited Edition SKU includes the Limited Edition SteelBook Case and Game Disc; Guardian Folio with Field Guide, Postcards, and Antique Star Chart; Collector’s Edition Digital Content including the Destiny Expansion Pass at $99.99.
The Ghost Edition SKU adds a Ghost replica that features lights and audio from the game at $149.99.
PS4 and PS3 owners will receive exclusive content for Destiny through fall 2015, including Dust Palace Strike – an exclusive co-op Strike mission on Mars, Exodus Blue Competitive Multiplayer Map, and exclusive guns, gear and ships.
The PS4 500GB Glacier White Destiny bundle includes a new PS4 500GB Glacier White SKU, White Dualshock 4 Controller and a copy of Destiny at $449.99.
