NIS America Inc.’s Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited for Sony Corp.’s Playstation Vita is a solid strategy title that refines the Playstation 3 classic with updated graphics and brand new missions.
In Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited, a tyrant named Valvatorez leads a party to rebel against the president of the Netherworld.
The title includes trademark Disgaea strategy tactics, including Team Attack to perform a joint attack, Special Attack to attack with a special power, Lift and Throw to toss characters to high platforms, and Defense to guard nearby allies.
In addition, users can purchase Weapons, Armor, Heal, and Evilities, learned and equipped abilities that can relay character or class-specific attacks.
The control system is clear and straight-forward with all commands and functions detailed in user tutorials for quick debrief to battle rules.
The graphics engine is solid at 60 frames-per-second. The sprite characters are now rendered in high-resolution and the 3D battlefields are sharp and vibrant. The sound engine compliments the new graphics package with solid voice work and a whimsical soundtrack.
Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited is the best version of the title released to date. With updated graphics, all DLC, new scenarios, and solid tactical strategy, the remaster is a refined revisit to the Netherworld.
