Sony Corp. this week said the Playstation 4 has sold more than 10 million units in global territories.

The company said the figure represents the number of hardware units sold through to consumers as of Aug. 10.

Sony said it sold 3.5 million Playstation 4 and Playstation 3 hardware units combined in the Q1 2014.

The Games and Network Services division held a profit of $41.8 million in the quarter.

The PS4 is sold at $399.99.

The hardware utilizes a PC-like architecture with a x86-based AMD Jaguar 8-core CPU, a 1.84 TLFOPS AMD next-generation Radeon GPU, and GDDR5 8GB RAM. In addition, the hardware features a 6X Blu-ray disc drive, USB 3.0 interface, Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1, HDMI, and digital output.
