Nintendo Co. this week said Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U has sold 2.82 million copies worldwide to date.
Nintendo in June said Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U sold 1.2 million copies in the first weekend of sale in global markets.
The title is the fastest-selling Wii U game to date.
Mario Kart 8 includes vehicle transformations that allow each kart to race through anti-gravity tracks. The final game will allow users to drive against the wall, paraglide after a jump, and cruise underwater.
New characters include Rosalina, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, and all seven Koopalings.
The Mario Kart 8 Wii U Bundle includes the Wii U Deluxe System, Mario Kart 8, Red Mario Wii Wheel Accessory, and Red Mario Wii Remote Plus Controller at $329.99.
