Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 5 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 6,456 units between July 14 to July 20 to rank No. 4 in overall hardware sales.
It sold 7,150 units at launch the week prior.
The hardware ranked one title in the top 15, Murdered: Soul Suspect at No. 15.
The PS3 sold 7,389 units to rank at No. 4 in the same period.
Sony this week said System Software Update v1.75 for the Playstation 4 will add 3D Blu-ray disc support.
Sony this week announced four new titles to be released to the Playstation Network under the Playstation Store Play 2014 program.
New titles to be released include Rogue Legacy (July 29) at $16.99 or $13.59 PS Plus, The Swapper (Aug. 5) at $19.99 or $15.99 PS Plus, Hohokum (Aug. 12) at $14.99 or $11.99 PS Plus, and Counterspy (Aug. 19) at $14.99 or $11.99 PS Plus.
Customers who purchase one title for PS4, PS3, or PS Vita will receive Cross-Buy functionality to receive the two other versions at no cost.
In addition, customers who pre-order titles will receive additional PSN cash vouchers – $3 for 2 titles purchased, $6 for 3 titles purchased or $10 for 4 titles purchased.
Oddworld Inhabitants this week released Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty for the Playstation 4 to the Playstation Network division.
The remake of Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee is a 2.5D side-scroller that includes classic puzzles and co-op functionality.
The final game includes 60 frames-per-second graphics fidelity and 1080p high-definition resolution.
Tecmo Koei Corp. this week said it will release Samurai Warriors 4 for the Playstation 4 Oct. 21 to U.S. retail.
Samurai Warriors 4 is a strategy action title set in the 1600s. The title includes 55 new and updated, new battle modes, and Chronicle Mode to utilize a custom character.
The Samurai Warriors 4 Collector’s Edition: Special Anime Pack includes the game, Samurai Warriors: Legend of the Sanada, game soundtrack and DLC.
Sony this week said The Last of Us Remastered for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 will include an enhancement of the multiplayer component Factions.
New features for Factions include a 60 frames-per-second frame rate and 1080p high-definition resolution.
In addition, new players begin with nine loadout points and faster matchmaking.
Sony this week released two free multiplayer maps for Killzone: Shadow Fall for the Playstation 4.
New maps include The Terminal set inside the partition wall on the New Helghan side of No Man’s Land, and The Stormgracht set in the toxic industrial area of New Helghan.
Square Enix Holdings Co. this week said it will offer a Limited Edition SKU for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX for the Playstation 3 to pre-order customers.
The Limited Edition will include an exclusive 1.68-inch Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX Collector’s Pin.
The title, to be sold Dec. 2, will include Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix, and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded with remastered cinematics in high-definition graphics and audio.

Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 29,601 units between July 14 and July 20 to rank as the No. 2 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 40,710 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked two titles in the top 10, Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines at No. 2 and Freedom Wars at No. 7.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 556 units to rank at No. 6 in the same period.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware ranked No. 7 units in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox 360 sold 129 units between June 14 to July 20 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 140 units the week prior.
The Xbox One and Xbox 360 sold two million units combined in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Microsoft shipped 1.1 million units of Xbox hardware. Xbox revenue increased 14 percent to $104 million from the year prior.
Microsoft this month previewed the August System Update for the Xbox One.
The August Update will include the option to Like, Share and Comment on the Activity Feed, Mobile Purchase to use Xbox One SmartGlass and the web to purchase games and add-ons and have them download to the console, Blu-ray 3D functionality, Low Battery Notification, and Expanded Friends Area at Home screen.
Sega Corp. this week released the Cast Trailer for Alien: Isolation.
The trailer features commentary from the original cast of Alien about the video game format and work on the film.
The Nostromo Edition will include The Crew Expendable bonus which includes Ellen Ripley, Dallas and Parker following the deaths of Brett and Kane. Users can control each character to explore the Nostromo and escape the alien threat.
The original cast, including Sigourney Weaver (Ripley), Tom Skerritt (Dallas), Veronica Cartwright (Lambert), Harry Dean Stanton (Brett) and Yaphett Khoto (Parker) will reprise their roles from Alien in the bonus content.
EA Inc. this week said it will delay Dragon Age Inquisition to Nov. 18.
The title was previously scheduled to be sold Oct. 21.
Dragon Age Inquisition will utilize the Frostbite 3 engine and feature an expanded land, new combat and new customization options.
EA Inc. this said Battlefield Hardline to early 2015.
The title was previously scheduled to be sold in late Oct.
The publisher said it will utilize additional development time to add multiplayer features based on feedback from the Beta, increase depth in the single-player story campaign, optimize the title for stability at launch.
Bandai Namco Games America Inc. this week released the Crown of the Sunken King DLC for Dark Souls II.
The Crown of the Sunken King DLC includes new environments, traps, and bosses to conquer.
It sells at $9.99.
Future DLC includes Crown of the Old Iron King to be sold Aug. 26, and Crown of the Ivory King Sept. 24.
A Season Pass option is available via Steam for PC owners.
Microsoft this week said the GoPro Channel is now available for the Xbox One.
The channel includes curated content from the company in addition to an online store to allow users to purchase GoPro products.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware ranked third in Japan in the latest sales data for the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 8,209 units between July 14 to July 20 to rank at No. 3 in overall sales.
It sold 8,658 units the week prior.
Mario Kart 8 ranked as the No. 5 software title for the week selling 14,992 units for the week.
Nintendo this week deployed Wii U Software Update 5.1.0 to hardware owners.
The update features Wii U to Wii U System Transfer functionality to transfer all software and data to another Wii U console.
In addition, users can navigate the Nintendo eShop with the Wii Remote, Wii U Pro Controller or Classic Controller.
Finally, the update offers improved system stability and usability.
Nintendo this week released Wii Sports Club for the Wii U to U.S. retail.
The retail SKU includes all five sports for $39.99.
Wii Sports Club includes all sports event from Wii Sports – bowling, tennis, baseball, boxing, and golf – with HD graphics, enhanced Wii MotionPlus controls, and new online competitive functionality.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 37,377 units between July 14 and July 20 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 61,956 units the week prior.
It ranked five titles in the top 10, including Yo-Kai Watch 2 at No. 1, and Gundam Tri-Age at No. 4.
