Microsoft Corp. this week said Xbox One sales more than doubled in June at U.S. retail post release of the new Xbox One standard edition without Kinect.

The sales figure is based on a month-to-month internal estimate comparison against Xbox One sales in May.

The company released the new SKU June 9.

The Xbox One standard edition without Kinect, is sold at $399.00.

The hardware was previously sold only with the Kinect sensor at $499.99.

The Xbox One has sold 1.2 million units in the fiscal third quarter ending Mar. 31, 2014.

The company sold two million Xbox One and Xbox 360 units combined in the period.

The Devices and Consumer division, which includes the Xbox platform, held $8.3 billion in revenue, a 12 percent increase from the year prior.

Microsoft held earnings of $5.66 billion on revenue of $20.4 billion in the third quarter ending Mar. 31, 2014.

It released the Xbox One entertainment system Nov. 22.

The Xbox One has sold five million units to retailers in global markets.

The Xbox One features an 8-core AMD CPU, Radeon GPU, 8GB RAM, 500GB hard drive, Blu-ray disc drive, 802.11n Wireless with Wi-Fi Direct, HDMI, and USB 3.0.
