Nintendo Co. this week said Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U will include new amiibo NFC functionality and new Mii Fighter options.
amiibo is a new line of NFC-enabled toy figures that can transfer the character and respective data to the Wii U GamePad. Super Smash Bros. Wii U will be the inaugural title for the new product line. Future compatible titles include Mario Kart 8. amiibo will launch holiday 2014.
In addition, Super Smash Bros. will allow users to create custom Mii Figthers. The Mii Brawler, Mii Swordfighter, Mii Gunner can be customized to feature a custom character.
New challengers in the title include Greninja, Zero Suit Samus, Sheik, Yoshi, and Charizard.
Both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS SKU will include online multiplayer functionality to battle users on their respective platforms. Each SKU will have a distinct set of battle arenas.
Previously announced characters in the final game include Luigi, Princess Peach, Little Mac, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
