Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 5 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 7,543 units between May 19 and May 25 to rank No. 4 in overall hardware sales.
It sold 6,792 units at launch the week prior.
Infamous: Second Son ranked as the No. 2 software for the week selling 34,801 units at launch.
The PS3 sold 7,565 units to rank at No. 3 in the same period.
Developer Ready At Dawn this week said The Order: 1886 for the Playstation 4 will be sold in 2015.
The Order: 1886 is a single-player third-person action adventure with shooting mechanics and is set in London at the end of the 19th century.
The final game will include a linear story-based mode.
Ubisoft Inc. this week released Watch Dogs to U.S. retail.
In addition, Ubisoft said Watch Dogs sold through more copies in the first 24 hours of sale than any other title in the company’s history.
Sony this week said it will set up two joint ventures with Shanghai Oriental Pearl Group to make and market Playstation video games and software in China.
One joint venture will manage the Playstation hardware business and the other will manage the software business.
Video game hardware was banned in China since 2000. The ban of video game hardware in Shanghai’s free trade zone was lifted in Jan. 2014.
EA Inc. this week released the Trial Version of Battlefield 4 for the Playstation 3 to the Playstation Plus division.
The Trial Version includes the full base game and is available for 20 hours to play. It is available to download at no cost for PS Plus members.
Sony this week released Update 1.08 to Gran Turismo 6 for the Playstation 3.
The free update includes the Mitsubishi Vision GT and the Sienna Tribute vehicles.
EA Inc. this week said it will release Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare to the Playstation 4 and Playstation 3 Aug. 19.
Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare is a multiplayer shooter that includes a 24-player battle mode and a four-player co-op mode survival mode.
Sony this week said the Playstation Plus membership will offer access to two games per month for the Playstation 4, Playstation 3 and PS Vita beginning in June.
In addition, beginning in July, Instant Game Collection titles will be free for the month from the first Tues. of the month to the first Tues. of the following month.
Sales for the Playstation Vita ranked as the No. 2 video game hardware in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 15,212 units between May 19 and May 25 to rank as the No. 2 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 13,865 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked three titles in the top 10, including To Love Ru Trouble at No. 4 and Amnesia World at No. 8.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 1,479 units to rank at No. 6 in the same period.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware ranked No. 7 units in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox 360 sold 202 units between May 19 and May 25 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 201 units the week prior.
Remedy Entertainment this week released the Gamescom Preview Trailer for Quantum Break for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One.
The trailer features an introduction and gameplay from the final game.
Quantum Break is a cinematic action title that includes time-amplified gameplay. In the title, Jack Joyce struggles to prevent the end of time in a battle against the evil corporation Monarch Solutions.
It will be sold in 2015.
Bethesda Softworks this week said it will release The Evil Within Oct. 21.
It was previously scheduled to be sold Aug. 26.
Developed by Tango Gameworks, The Evil Within is a survival horror title in which users utilize limited resources to fight for survival.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games, and The LEGO Group this week said it will release LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham this fall.
In LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, users will join forces with DC Comics Universe heroes to stop Brainiac from the destruction of Earth.
The title will include more than 150 unique characters, including members of the Justice League.
Microsoft this week said the company, Mojang and 343 Studios will release Minecraft: Halo Edition May 29.
The Halo Mash-Up Pack DLC includes a Halo-themed texture set and 40 character skins including Master Chief, Cortana, Sergeant Johnson, and Arbiter.
In addition, the pack features pre-made worlds including Silent Cartographer, Sandtrap, Valhalla, Blackout, Guardian, and Blood Gulch.
The DLC will sell via Xbox Live at $3.99.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware ranked third in Japan in the latest sales data for the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 9,024 units between May 19 and May 25 to rank at No. 3 in overall sales.
It sold 6,716 units the week prior.
Nintendo this week said it will release Pushmo World for the Wii U to the Nintendo eShop division June 19.
In the title, users push, pull and climb through more than 250 puzzles.
The final game includes HD graphics, original puzzles, and the World Pushmo Fair – an in-game hub that allows players to share and download new puzzles.
It will sell at $9.99.
Nintendo this week released Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U to U.S. retail.
Mario Kart 8 includes vehicle transformations that allow each kart to race through anti-gravity tracks. The final game will allow users to drive against the wall, paraglide after a jump, and cruise underwater.
The Mario Kart 8 Wii U Bundle will include the Wii U Deluxe System, Mario Kart 8, Red Mario Wii Wheel Accessory, and Red Mario Wii Remote Plus Controller at $329.99.
The Nintendo 3DS ranked as the No. 1 hardware in Japan in the latest sales data from the territory.
Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 23,224 units between May 19 and May 25 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 23,600 units the week prior.
It ranked three titles in the top 10 including World Soccer Winning Eleven 2014: Samurai Blue Challenge at No. 5 and Mario Golf: World Tour at No. 10.
