Microsoft Corp. this week previewed a new System Update to the Xbox One to be released in June.

The update will allow users to plug in a 256GB or higher 3.0 external drive to save games, apps, game add-ons, and take content to a friend’s system.

In addition, users can view real names of friends and control who can view your real name.

New SmartGlass functionality adds a full OneGuide and Universal Remote Control.

Finally, the update will add Games with Gold and Deals with Gold benefits to Xbox One owners.

The Xbox One standard edition without Kinect, to be released June 9, will be sold at $399.00.

The hardware was previously sold only with the Kinect sensor at $499.99.
