Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 3 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 14,396 units between Apr. 14 and Apr. 20 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.
It sold 13,034 units at launch the week prior.
The PS3 sold 6,468 units to rank at No. 4 in the same period.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn ranked as the No. 3 best-selling software for the week selling 31,326 copies at launch.
Sony this week said it will release System Software Update v1.70 for the Playstation 4 Apr. 30.
The new update will add the SHAREfactory video editor and option to export and save videos and screenshots to a USB drive.
In addition, the update will include an HDCP off function to capture gameplay via HDMI.
Sony this week released Patch v1.14 for Killzone: Shadow Fall for the Playstation 4.
Patch v1.14 includes a Reworked Combat Log, Reduced Blur in Multiplayer, Reduced challenge requirements, the option to switch Faction in Multiplayer, new controller configuration and minor bug fixes.
Sony. this week said it will offer Puppeteer for the Playstation 3 free to Playstation Plus members in May.
Puppeteer is a third-person platform adventure title in which lead character Kutaro can don Hero Heads to deploy new powers.
In addition, it will offer Konami Corp.’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 for the PS3 in May.
Namco Bandai Games America Inc. this week Soulcalibur: Lost Swords for the Playstation 3 to the Playstation Network division.
Soulcalibur: Lost Swords is a free-to-play single-player title that includes trademark weapons-based combat and customization options.
The final game includes clothing and weapons options, and the option to upload their character for other users to download to help assist in battles as an ally.
Namco Bandai America Inc. this week said it will release Tales of Xillia 2 exclusively to the Playstation 3 Aug. 19.
The title is set a year after the events of Tales of Xillia and will include branching paths to alter the storyline.
The final game will include the option to switch between three main weapons and link to any party member to team up in support and link attacks.

By comparison, the hardware sold 25,298 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked one title in the top 10, 3rd Super Robot Wars Z at No. 6.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 2,094 units to rank at No. 6 in the same period.
Telltale Games this week released The Walking Dead: Season Two to the PS Vita.
Episode 1 and Episode 2 are sold at $4.99 each.
Namco Bandai Games America Inc. this week said it will release Tales of Hearts R to the PS Vita this winter.
Tales of Hearts R features Kor, a young man who must restore a young woman’s heart and soul.
The final game includes the new Aerial Chase Linear Motion Battle System to move freely in aerial battles and character designs by Mutsumi Inomata.
Sony this month released Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate HD for the PS Vita to the Instant Game Collection to Playstation Plus members.
Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate HD is a tower defense title in which users strategically place weapons to defend offspring from a horde of monsters.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox 360 sold 240 units between Apr. 14 and Apr. 20 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 229 units the week prior.
Microsoft this week said the Xbox One has sold 1.2 million units in the fiscal third quarter ending Mar. 31, 2014.
The company sold two million Xbox One and Xbox 360 units combined in the period.
The Devices and Consumer division, which includes the Xbox platform, held $8.3 billion in revenue, a 12 percent increase from the year prior.

Crytek Inc. this week released Warface Xbox 360 Edition for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 in the Xbox Live division.
Warface is a free-to-play online first-person shooter with competitive and cooperative multiplayer.
Ubisoft Inc. this week released the Multiplayer Gameplay Trailer for Watch Dogs.
The trailer features nine minutes of gameplay from the multiplayer component of the title, including the eight vs. eight decryption death match.

Nintendo this week released NES Remix 2 for the Wii U in the Nintendo eShop.
NES Remix 2 is a mashup of classic Nintendo games that features challenges from different NES games like Kid Icarus, Kirby’s Adventure and Metroid.
The title includes a new Championship Mode to enter in three consecutive score-based challenges to achieve a high score.
The first NES Remix game is required to unlock Championship Mode in NES Remix 2.
The Nintendo 3DS ranked as the No. 1 hardware in Japan in the latest sales data from the territory.
Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 19,943 units between Apr. 14 and Apr. 20 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 23,562 units the week prior.
It ranked five titles in the top 10 including Yo-Kai Watch at No. 1, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 1-2-3 at No. 4, and Mario Party: Island Tour at No. 5.
