Sony Corp. this week said it will release System Software Update v1.70 for the Playstation 4 Apr. 30.

The new update will add the SHAREfactory video editor and option to export and save videos and screenshots to a USB drive.

In addition, the update will include an HDCP off function to capture gameplay via HDMI.

Prior system updates included Version 1.61, a mandatory update that included general enhancements to hardware stability.

The prior release, 1.60 included support for PULSE Gold Wireless Headset and PULSE – Elite Edition Wireless Headsets, mute camera option, and general stability improvements.

The PS4 is sold at $399.99.

The hardware utilizes a PC-like architecture with a x86-based AMD Jaguar 8-core CPU, a 1.84 TLFOPS AMD next-generation Radeon GPU, and GDDR5 8GB RAM. In addition, the hardware features a 6X Blu-ray disc drive, USB 3.0 interface, Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1, HDMI, and digital output.
