Target Corp. this week began offering a $50 bonus with the purchase of Nintendo Co.’s Wii U console in a new retail initiative.

This week, customers who purchase the Wii U Deluxe Set will receive a $50 Gift Card at no additional cost.

Nintendo recorded a profit of $99 million in the third quarter.

The Wii U has sold 5.86 million hardware units and 29.37 software units to date. It sold 2.4 million Wii U units in the quarter.

The company forecasts a loss of $242 million for the fiscal year ending Mar. 31. In addition, it lowered Wii U annual sales to 2.8 million from nine million.
