Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4 ranked as the No. 3 hardware in Japan in the latest data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported the PS4 sold 23,327 units between Mar. 24 to Mar. 30 to rank No. 1 in overall hardware sales.

It sold 30,201 units at launch the week prior.

The PS3 sold 17,154 units to rank at No. 4 in the same period.

The Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes PS4 SKU ranked as the No. 18 best-selling software for the week.

Sony this week released the Insurgent Pack to Killzone: Shadow Fall for the Playstation 4.

The Insurgent Pack is the first multiplayer expansion pack for the title and includes the Insurgent multiplayer class.

The Insurgent multiplayer class includes two new abilities – steal and hack. Assault, Support, and Scout classes have three new abilities and three new weapons.

Finally, two new game modes include Campaign Elite Mode and Multiplayer Collectibles Mode, and new customization options.

Sony this week said it will release an update to Infamous: Second Son for the Playstation 4.

The update will add new features to the title, including the option to change the time of day, an option to turn the HUD on and off, and an option to cap the frame rate at 30 frames-per-second.

Sony this week released MLB 14 The Show for the Playstation 3 to U.S. retail.

The title allows users to carry saves from prior MLB The Show titles, a Quick-Counts option for shorter games, and Road to the Show will feature a new advancement system, new intuitive player creation process, and all new pre-draft prospect showcase.

Sony this week released Mercenary Kings for the Playstation 4 in the Playstation Network division free to Playstation Plus members.

Developed by Tribute Games, Mercenary Kings is a side-scrolling action game in which users must rescue Dr. James Neil from the forces of C.L.A.W.

The final game includes weapon customization with 300-plus gun parts and more than 100 knives.

Zombie Studios this week said Daylight for the Playstation 4 and the PC will be released Apr. 29.

It was previously scheduled to be released Apr. 8.

The developer cited additional development time fine tune the title.

In Daylight, users wake up inside an abandoned hospital and must use the light on their cellphone to guide them through the environment. The phone will subsequently be used to map environments and as a communications device.

XSEED Games this week l released Ragnorok Odyssey Ace for the Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita to U.S. retail.

Sales for the Playstation Vita ranked as the No. 2 video game hardware in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 41,867 units between Mar. 24 and Mar. 30 to rank as the No. 2 hardware for the week.

By comparison, the hardware sold 37,128 units the week prior.

The hardware ranked three titles in the top 10 software sales for the week, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd at No. 1 and J Star Victory Vs at No. 9.

Meanwhile, the PSP sold 4,206 units to rank at No. 6 in the same period.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware ranked No. 7 units in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox 360 sold 304 units between Mar. 24 to Mar. 30 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 288 units the week prior.

Microsoft this week said it will add DVR control to the Xbox One console via Xbox SmartGlass.

The feature, to be included in a future system update, will allow users to set new recordings and watch recorded content from their DVR from a tablet or smartphone.

In addition, Xbox SmartGlass will display most recently-watched channels.

The company said more than 23 million minutes have been broadcast from Twitch for Xbox One since launch Mar. 10.

Hitman: Absolution will be available at no cost to Xbox Live Gold members through Apr. 15. Tomb Raider and the Guardian of Light will be available at no cost between Apr. 16 and Apr. 30.

Microsoft Corp. this week released the Call of Duty: Ghosts Devastation DLC for the Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Devastation includes four multiplayer maps, an all-new 2-in-1 tactical weapon, and Episode 2: Mayday for Extinction mode.

Sega Corp. this month said it will release Alien: Isolation Oct. 7.

Developed by Creative Assembly, Alien: Isolation is a first-person survival horror title that includes Amanda Ripley, daughter of franchise veteran Ellen Ripley.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 13,026 units between Mar. 24 and Mar. 30 to rank at No. 5 in overall sales.

It sold 9,982 units the week prior.

Nintendo this week released the New Features Trailer for Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U.

The trailer features new attack options included in the final game, like the Boomerang Flower and Pirahna Plants.

Mario Kart 8, to be sold May 30, will include vehicle transformations that allow each kart to race through anti-gravity tracks. In addition, users could drive against the wall, paraglide after a jump, and cruise underwater.

Nintendo this week deployed Wii U Software Update 4.1.0 to hardware owners.

The update offers further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments to improve user experience.

Nintendo this week released Metroid Fusion for the Wii U Virtual Console division in the Nintendo eShop.

Metroid Fusion, originally released to the Game Boy Advance, is an action-adventure title released in 2002.

It sells at $7.99.

The Nintendo 3DS ranked as the No. 1 hardware in Japan in the latest sales data from the territory.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 64,662 units between Mar. 24 and Mar. 30 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.

The hardware sold 40,276 units the week prior.

It ranked three titles in the top 10 including Mario Party: Island Tour at No. 2, Yo-Kai Watch at No. 4, and New Love Plus+ at No. 7.
