Nintendo Co. this week said it will sell the Nintendo 3DS XL Yoshi’s New Island Edition Mar. 14 to U.S. retail.
The hardware will launch in conjunction with Yoshi’s New Island.
The 2D side-scroller will include classic gameplay elements and new options, including the ability to convert an enemy to a large egg to toss and open new areas.
Nintendo held a net profit of $99 million in the third quarter due to strong sales of Nintendo 3DS software.
The Nintendo 3DS has sold (to retailers) 42.74 million units and 152.29 software units to date.
The company forecasted a loss of $242 million for the fiscal year ending Mar. 31. In addition, it has lowered Nintendo 3DS annual sales to 13.5 million from 18 million units.
