Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS ranked as the top hardware in Japan due to strong demand for the handheld.
Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 48,308 units between Feb. 3 and Feb. 9 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 37,462 units the week prior.
It ranked six titles in the top 10 game sales including Dragon Quest Monsters 2 at No. 1, Puyo Puyo Tetris at No. 2, Kirby Triple Deluxe at No. 5.
Nintendo held a net profit of $99 million in the third quarter due to strong sales of Nintendo 3DS software.
The Nintendo 3DS has sold (to retailers) 42.74 million units and 152.29 software units to date.
The company forecasted a loss of $242 million for the fiscal year ending Mar. 31. In addition, it has lowered Nintendo 3DS annual sales to 13.5 million from 18 million units.
