Microsoft Corp. this week said it will offer Xbox Live Gold membership free to U.S. and Canada subscribers between Feb. 14 and Feb. 16.
In the free Gold weekend, all Xbox Live entertainment applications and online multiplayer gaming will be available at no cost.
Microsoft held earnings of $6.56 billion on revenue of $24.52 billion in the second quarter ending Dec. 31, 2013.
The Devices and Consumer division, which includes the Xbox platform, held $1.9 billion in revenue, a 68 percent increase from the year prior.
The Xbox One has sold 3.9 million units in five weeks post launch of the next-generation hardware.
In addition, the Xbox 360 sold 3.5 million units in the second quarter.
